ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK creator Jenji Kohan has confirmed to US Weekly that Laura Prepon, who announced last fall that she would be departing the Netflix hit during its upcoming second season, will stick around a little longer than expected.

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) announces Heather Burns ('Bored to Death') will join the company in the role of 'Beth'. Maria Dizzia departed the production before rehearsals began, for personal reasons. Dinner with Friends by Pulitzer Prize winner Donald Margulies, directed by Tony Award® winner Pam MacKinnon will also feature Marin Hinkle as 'Karen', Darren Pettie as 'Tom,' and Jeremy Shamos as 'Gabe.'

The Freeman Studio to launch their ACTORS ALOUD series this Sunday, September 29 at 5PM at The Freeman Studio (79 Leonard Street). ACTORS ALOUD is a FREE event that will be moderated by Jack Doulin (Casting Director for New York Theater Workshop) and Scott Freeman, featuring leading actors and theatre professionals, discussing issues, obstacles and offering advice central to the lives of today's actors.

As first reported by Buzzfeed, Laura Prepon, who plays a former international drug-runner/dealer and girlfriend of series lead Taylor Schilling on Netflix's ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, will exit the series midway through the upcoming second season. Prepon will wrap her character's currently storyline before departing the Jenji Kohan-created series, with the option to return available.

Broadway's Uzo Aduba, who plays scene-stealer 'Crazy Eyes' on the Netflix-exclusive show, has been upped to a series regular, Deadline reports.

The 58th Annual Drama Desk took place last night, May 19th at Town Hall (123 W. 43rd Street), and miserable rain didn't stop the festivities. On Monday, May 13 Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for Theatre honored Ruth and Stephen Hendel and Ming Cho Lee at their Gala Evening. The evening was held at the Angel Orensanz Foundation (172 Norfolk Street) in New York City, cocktails started at 6pm and dinner started at 7pm. Jessica Hecht was the emcee of the evening; the Gala co-chairs were playwright Lydia R. Diamond and interior designer Jasmine M. Keller. The Gala honorary chairs were Anne Kaufman, Obie award-winning director; Nelle Nugent, Broadway producer; Judith O. Rubin, chairman of the board of Playwrights Horizons; and Liz Smith, gossip columnist. The event hosted 200 guests and surpassed its financial goal. Scroll down for photos from the gala!
