Gotham Arts Exchange presents Emerging Artist Showcase at DTW 1/5-6, 2011

Gotham Arts Exchange presents the Emerging Artist Showcase, a shared evening of dance works by emerging choreographers John-Mark Owen, Jessica Gaynor and Adam Barruch (with guest performer Margie Gillis) on Wednesday, January 5 and Thursday, January 6 at 7:30pm at Dance Theater Workshop, 219 West 19th Street, NYC.

Alexandra Wells to be Honored With MAD Spirit Award, 9/30

The Stella Adler Studio of Acting and the Harold Clurman Center for New York in Movement and Dance Theater will honor Alexandra Wells on Thursday, September 30th. The evening will feature performances by Sidra Bell Dance New York, Andrea Miller's Gallim Dance, Austin McCormick's Company XIV and more. Margie Gillis will present the MAD Spirit Award to Alexandra Wells. The event is a part of the Studio's Fifth Annual Harold Clurman Festival, which brings artists and activists together to discuss the relationship between art and social activism and which raises funds for the nonprofit.

The Canadian Stage Company wraps its 2008.2009 season with Doubt, a parable, the award-winning play that's taken North America by storm. The production stars Canadian theatre icons Seana McKenna (Canadian Stage's The Clean House, Wit) and David Storch (Canadian Stage's Frost/Nixon and director of Palace of the End), and is helmed by renowned director Marti Maraden (Canadian Stage's Trying).

Kicking off the Harold Clurman Festival of the Arts, the Stella Adler Studio hosts Art and Social Activism Spotlight on Africa, a panel discussion with Melissa Fitzgerald (actress, The West Wing, activist, Voices of Uganda), John Prendergast (author, Not On Our Watch: The Mission to End Genocide in Darfur and Beyond, chair of ENOUGH Project), Mira Sorvino (Academy award-winning actress, Mighty Aphrodite, ambassador Amnesty International), Winter Miller (playwright, In Darfur) and Jeffrey Wright (actor, W., Angels in America, spokesperson for All for Africa), on Friday, October 17 at 7pm at Cooper Union's Great Hall, 7 East 7th Street, New York, NY.
