Photo Flash: First Look at Annie Baker's UNCLE VANYA at Antaeus Theatre

Anton Chekhov's UNCLE VANYA bursts with passion and fierce humor in Pulitzer Prize and three-time Obie Award-winning playwright Annie Baker's colloquial translation, adapted from a literal translation by Margarita Shalina and the original Russian text. The Antaeus Theatre Company presents the West Coast premiere of Baker's fresh new version in a fully partner-cast production. UNCLE VANYA Opens Tonight at Antaeus Theatre Company

BWW Reviews: LEGENDS & VISIONARIES Amuses at Schimmel Center

The short two-day run of Legends & Visionaries by New York Theater Ballet drew a warm showing from the public, apparently enticed by what was a soft opener to the upcoming season of live arts at the Schimmel, a fine venue at Pace University.

2015 HOLA Awards Honor Benicio del Toro, Selenis Leyva and More Tonight

The Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors (HOLA), the nation's longest running active arts advocacy organization for Latino actors, is pleased to announce that it will honor Academy Award-winning actor Benicio del Toro with the 2015 Raul Julia HOLA Founders Award. He will join 'Orange is the New Black' star Selenis Leyva, 'Jane The Virgin' star Andrea Navedo, 'Blue Bloods' star Marisa Ramirez, and others at the Sixteenth Annual HOLA Awards Gala and Benefit. The HOLA Awards will take place tonight, October 14, 2015 at 6pm at The Battery Gardens.

Lillian Hellman's THE CHILDREN'S HOUR Opens Tonight at EgoPo Classic Theater

Who holds the power in a teacher-student relationship? What are the consequences when power shifts from teacher to student? EgoPo Classic Theater explores these themes with their season opener Lillian Hellman's THE CHILDREN'S HOUR, staged by special guest director, Adrienne Mackey. THE CHILDREN'S HOUR opens tonight, October 9. The show runs three weeks, closing on Sunday October 25.

THE CHILDREN'S HOUR previews tonight and tomorrow, October 7 and 8, and opens Friday, October 9. The show runs three weeks, closing on Sunday October 25. Tickets start at $25. All performances are at the Latvian Society of Philadelphia on 7th and Spring Garden.

BWW Review: SCREAM, QUEEN, SCREAM!

David Cerda, the crown prince of Chicago Camp, is back and in top form with his latest queer take on horror anthologies, SCREAM, QUEEN, SCREAM! Cerda, the artistic director of Hell in a Handbag Productions, wrote the show and also stars in one of the trilogy of stories. It runs through Oct. 31 at Mary's Attic (5400 N. Clark).

Adrienne Mackey to Direct EgoPo's THE CHILDREN'S HOUR

EgoPo welcomes guest director Adrienne Mackey, the founder of Swim Pony Performing Arts, to bring this classic to new life. Mackey is a locally celebrated director who creates original and compelling theater using the power of the human voice and the forms of the human body. Her works include The Ballad of Joe Hill for the Live Arts Festival and The Master and Margarita for Mum Puppettheatre. She is a past winner of CEC's New Edge Residency and the Independence Arts Fellowship.

Metropolitan Museum's MetTodays to Highlight Latin American Culture, Today

The Metropolitan Museum of Art will be filled with the sights, sounds, and tastes of Latin America today evening, September 18, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Organized in conjunction with National Hispanic Heritage Month, and part of the MetTodays series, ¡Noche en el Met! Celebrate Latin America will offer a range of activities in both English and Spanish, all free with Museum admission. The event also marks the Metropolitan Museum's growing commitment to art from Latin America, including new acquisitions, exhibitions, and increased public programs. MetTodays-'New York's Night Out'-offer visitors wide ranging programming today evenings, when the Museum is open until 9:00 p.m.

Broadway's Mary Louise Wilson and More Appear at Chicago's REELING Film Festival This Month

REELING, the second-oldest LGBTQ+ film festival in the world and a beloved Chicago cultural institution for more than 30 years, features a host of events of interest to the theater community. GREY GARDENS Tony Award winner Mary Louise Wilson will be present for the Chicago premiere of SHE'S THE BEST THING IN IT, a documentary about Wilson also featuring Frances McDormand, Melissa Leo, Tyne Daly, Estelle Parsons, Valerie Harper and Charlotte Rae.

NBC Universo to Air OMBATE AMERICAS This Week

 NBC UNIVERSO, the modern sports and entertainment cable channel for Latinos, will air live the first fight in the Combate Americas live event series this Thur., Sept. 17 at 11 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. PT. Combate Americas is the groundbreaking live event Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fight series created specifically for U.S. Hispanics who are passionate about the artistry and action of the sports. It is the first and only MMA league featuring Hispanics fighters, many who are the best and most promising up-and-comers in the fight game today. The Combate Americas franchise was founded by Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) co-creator Campbell McLaren.
