Chamber Music America (CMA) today announced the appointment of pianist and composer Billy Childs as president of its board of directors, effective July 1. Childs is the organization's ninth board president, and the first jazz musician elected to the position. The Orion Ensemble's final performances of its season of "Musical Travels" will be part of the celebration of National Chamber Music Month, a nationwide initiative to draw attention to small ensemble performance. Chamber Music America announced Monday that Miller Theatre at Columbia University is a winner of the 2013 CMA/ASCAP Awards for Adventurous Programming. Contemporary classical ensemble Musiqa has received the Chamber Music Association/American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (CMA/ASCAP) Award for Adventurous Programming of contemporary music for 2013.
