Theatreworks USA Returning to the Kaye Playhouse in January

Theatreworks USA will kick off its 2016 weekend family performance series on Saturday January 9th with Junie B.'s Essential Survival Guide To School, the New York premiere of the new children's musical based on the best-selling series of books by Barbara Park, penned by Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich (Ever After, Dear Edwina, Theatreworks USA's acclaimed hit Junie B. Jones).

BC/EFA Receives $1.65 Million in Total This Year from Fred Ebb Foundation

The Fred Ebb Foundation (Mitchell Bernard, Trustee) has announced that its 2015 donation to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS will total $1.65 million dollars, bringing the foundation's total contribution to BC/EFA to $11.65 million since it began eleven years ago. The foundation, which is funded by royalties from the late award-winning lyricist Fred Ebb's vast catalogue of work, makes an annual donation to BC/EFA.

Chattanooga Symphony & Opera's Annual Holiday Concert to Feature Scott Coulter, 12/19

December 1, 2015 – Chattanooga, TN – The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera will present its annual holiday family tradition, Home for the Holidays, on Saturday, December 19 at 7:30pm and Sunday, December 20 at 3:00pm at the Tivoli Theatre. The CSO's annual holiday program returns to its roots with traditional holiday fare, featuring special guest vocalist and Chattanooga native Scott Coulter, star of the Emmy-nominated PBS Special A Christmas Carol: The Concert. Coulter will perform songs such as “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year”, “O Holy Night”, and pieces from A Christmas Carol.

Stacey Luftig & Phillip Palmer Receive 2015 Fred Ebb Awards Tonight

The Fred Ebb Foundation in association with the Roundabout Theatre Company presents the eleventh annual Fred Ebb Award for aspiring musical theatre songwriters to Stacey Luftig and Phillip Palmer. The award, named in honor of the late award-winning lyricist Fred Ebb, will be presented by Karen Ziemba tonight, November 30th from 6-8pm at a by-invitation-only ceremony in the Penthouse Lounge of The American Airlines Theater.

Goodspeed Sets Starry Group of Writing Teams for 2016 Mercer Writers Colony

In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 36 established and emerging composers, lyricists, and librettists will converge on the Goodspeed campus from mid-January through mid-February 2016 to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing 19 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration. Melissa Errico to 'SING THE SILENCE' at Joe's Pub This Week

Today and tomorrow, November 18th and 19th at 7pm in New York City, Tony Award-nominated singer & actress Melissa Errico return sto Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette St.) in 'Sing The Silence,' an entirely new, autobiographical cabaret show co-written with Adam Gopnik (The New Yorker) about how one singer's descent into 100 days of silence -- total silence -- compelled her towards an inventory of a lifetime's experience, on and off the stage.

The show will include songs by women songwriters such as Georgia Stitt, Marcy Heisler, Jonathan Brooke, Susan Werner, Patricia Barber, Laura Nyro, Joni Mitchell and Dorothy Parker, as well as the title song written for Errico by Gopnik and Scott Frankel; and the New York debut of music by Jeanine Tesori. There is also a sprinkling of the classic American songbook by Cole Porter, Rodgers & Hart, Sondheim & Mary Rodgers.
