ART 3 Opens CLAUDIA BAEZ, PAINTINGS AFTER PROUST Today

ART 3 opened in May 2014 in Bushwick near Luhring Augustine, with its Inaugural Exhibition covered by The New York Times T Magazine, Primer. ART 3 was created by Silas Shabelewska, formerly of Haunch of Venison and Helly Nahmad Gallery.

The Zimmerli Art Museum Presents OLEG VASSILIEV: SPACE AND LIGHT, Now Through 12/31

A major exhibition of significant works, many of which are from the Zimmerli's Norton and Nancy Dodge Collection of Nonconformist Art from the Soviet Union, comprise the first museum exhibition of the art of this seminal global figure since his death in 2013. The 83 works in the exhibition include loans from private collections in the United States that have only rarely been publically exhibited. Oleg Vassiliev: Space and Light will be on view at the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers through December 31, 2014 and is accompanied by a major catalogue, which will be released in November. The show has been organized by Julia Tulovsky, Ph.D., Associate Curator of Russian and Nonconformist Art, at the Zimmerli, who also served as general editor of the publication. It contains essays by Tulovsky, Molly Brunson, Andrew Solomon, and Robert Storr, as well as documentation on the artist's career, a chronology, and full-color illustrations of all the works in the exhibition.

The Ensemble for the Romantic Century Presents BEETHOVEN LOVE ELEGIES, Now thru 8/3

The Ensemble for the Romantic Century (ERC) returns to Lenox, Massachusetts, for the second consecutive summer, with 12 performances of the fully staged theatrical concert, Beethoven Love Elegies. With a script drawn from Beethoven's letters and diaries and accounts by his contemporaries, interwoven with performances of some of his greatest music, this poignant, humorous, and emotionally intense production dramatizes Beethoven's young years in Vienna and his search for the perfect wife. Actor Kire Tosevski as Beethoven heads an outstanding company of five esteemed actors and four musicians (violinist Rachel Lee Priday, cellist Sebastian Bäverstam, pianist Eve Wolf, and baritone Chad Sloane).

Fresh off its recent Tchaikovsky production at BAM Fisher, the Ensemble of the Romantic Century (ERC) presents another fully staged theatrical concert interweaving drama and music about one of the most famous trials of the 19th century. Delivered by a top-caliber cast in an intimate setting, The Trial of Oscar Wilde focuses on the tragic shackling, public scrutiny, and subsequent imprisonment of the homosexual playwright/writer Oscar Wilde (1854-1900). A script based on Wilde's correspondence, plays, and short stories (performed by Broadway's Michael Halling as Oscar Wilde and esteemed Robert Ian Mackenzie as Lord Queensbury) provides a dramatic backdrop for chamber music by French and English composers from the late 19th and early 20th centuries including Chausson's masterful Concerto for violin, piano and string quartet, and works by Satie, Elgar, Faure and Franck in performances by the dynamic Amphion String Quartet, violinist Susie Park, pianist Max Barros and a romping barbershop quartet.

NYTW Adds David Greig's THE EVENTS to 2014-15 Season

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) has announced the final addition to its 2014/15 season: David Greig's The Events, directed by Ramin Gray, which will make its New York debut in February, after receiving critical acclaim, a Fringe First and the Carol Tambor Best of Edinburgh Award at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

U.S. Premiere of SCENES FROM A MARRIAGE, THE INVISIBLE HAND & FOREVER Set for NYTW's 2014-15 Season

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) has announced that its 2014/15 season will include the U.S. premiere of Scenes from a Marriage written by Ingmar Bergman, adapted by Emily Mann and directed by Ivo van Hove; the New York premiere of The Invisible Hand, written by Ayad Akhtar and directed by Ken Rus Schmoll; and the New York premiere of Forever, writtenand performed by Dael Orlandersmith and directed by Neel Keller. In the coming weeks NYTW will announce an additional production that will round out the season.

Celebrating its 13th season, the Ensemble of the Romantic Century (ERC) presents Tchaikovsky: None But the Lonely Heart at The Fishman Space in the new BAM Fisher. A fully staged theatrical concert blending striking music, powerful language and biography, Tchaikovsky: None But the Lonely Heart delves into the unconventional 16-year long relationship between one of the great composers of the 19th century and his patroness, Madame von Meck. Written by Eve Wolf and directed by Donald T. Sanders, this evening-length production seamlessly interweaves a dramatic script performed by actor Simon Fortin (Tchaikovsky) and actress Ariel Bock (Madame von Meck) of Shakespeare & Company with live chamber and vocal music performed by violinist Rachel Lee Priday, cellist Adrian Daurov, pianist Eve Wolf and tenor Blake Friedman. Featuring some of Tchaikovsky's epic pieces including Piano Trio in A Minor, Tchaikovsky: None But the Lonely Heart represents some of the composer's balletic works through dance both choreographed and performed by American Ballet Theatre dancer Daniel Mantei.

Jackie Collins Honored by Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace

Collins told reporters she was unsure of what the queen might say to her when the time for the ceremony came. 'Because most women say 'oh you taught me everything I know about sex, I used to read my mum's copy under the covers in bed' — but I don't think she would say that to me.'

CTG to Present Staged Reading of Dael Orlandersmith's FOREVER, Today

Pulitzer Prize finalist and Obie, Guggenheim and PEN Award-winning playwright and performer Dael Orlandersmith is returning to the Kirk Douglas Theatre for a staged reading of her newest CTG-commissioned piece, 'Forever,' on November 11, 2013, at 8 p.m. Directed by Neel Keller, 'Forever' is a part of DouglasPlus programming and will play for one night only.

Dead Centre's SOUVENIR to Open 11/14 at Abrons Arts Center

Arriving directly from critically acclaimed, sold-out runs in London and Dublin, Ireland's Dead Centre will make their US debut at Abrons Arts Center with Souvenir, written and performed by Bush Moukarzel and directed by Ben Kidd. Souvenir takes Marcel Proust's seven-novelRemembrance of Things Past as its point of departurefor a freewheeling, 56-minute exploration of memory, jealousy and time. The performance will open on the evening of November 14, the centennial of Proust's first novel published in the series: Swann's Way.
