Two huge events are happening in Catskill NY in October over Columbus Day Weekend. Patricia Field, the award-winning costumer of HBO's Sex and The City (series and movies), The Devil Wears Prada movie, TV Land's current hit show Younger,and many other media projects, has chosen to bring her ARTFASHION collection to Catskill the weekend of October 6-8, 2017, as a benefit for Greene County Council on the Arts (GCCA). On the same weekend, Dancers Responding to AIDS, a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, is hosting its fifth annual Hudson Valley Dance Festival at the Historic Catskill Point. The two events masterfully do not conflict with each other, making this a phenomenal opportunity for fashion, dance, and art lovers in the New York area to enjoy a blockbuster weekend in one of the most beautiful parts of the state, especially during autumn.

Legendary, acclaimed and emerging choreographers - including Rob Ashford, Jeffrey Cirio, Merce Cunningham and Sonya Tayeh - will be featured at this year's Hudson Valley Dance Festival on Saturday, October 7, 2017, in Catskill, NY.

Trisha Brown Dance Company (TBDC) performs at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival in the Ted Shawn Theatre, August 16-20, representing the work of one of the seminal choreographers of the 20th century. Since Brown's passing this past March, witnessing TBDC in an evening-length program is an increasingly rare experience. Echoing Brown's choreographic innovation, timeless aesthetic, and 1960s postmodern approach to dance making, TBDC will perform a version of Opal Loop (1980) prepared especially for Jacob's Pillow, featuring former dancers of the company and an original cast member. Acknowledging Brown's more recent choreography, TBDC will also perform Groove and Countermove (2000) and L'Amour au théâtre (2009). As the company ventures into a new era, viewing Brown's work in a proscenium venue “feel[s] increasingly essential” (The New Yorker).

A bright summer sun shimmered across the Great South Bay as renowned dance companies, acclaimed choreographers and three standing-room-only audiences came together at this year's Fire Island Dance Festival on July 14-16, 2017. The 23rd edition of the fundraising and cultural event of the Fire Island summer raised a record $585,045 for Dancers Responding to AIDS, a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

10 Hairy Legs, the all-male repertory dance company extends its footprint during its sixth season of performances and educational programming, appearing in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Vermont, as well as in its home state of New Jersey.  Artistic Director Randy James noted, "We are pleased to have had such a positive and wide-reaching response from our presenting partners across the county to our vision of exploring the artistry of the male dancer. With more than 23 works in our repertory including 14 commissioned works, we bring a wealth of ways to investigate and illuminate the male role in dance today and to display the tremendous versatility of our company members while inviting interesting conversations about gender roles."

This summer's Fire Island Dance Festival will feature the premieres of three works and the return of several companies that have become festival favorites as the highly anticipated charitable and cultural event arrives July 14-16, to Fire Island Pines.

Periapsis Music and Dance presents NOESIS, a new work by resident choreographer Hannah Weber and composer Jonathan Howard Katz, on June 3 at 8:00 pm and June 4 and 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm at GK ArtsCenter (aka Gelsey Kirkland Academy), 29 Jay Street, Brooklyn. 

10 Hairy Legs, the all-male repertory dance company, debuts at BAM for its fifth consecutive New York Season for four performances June 8-11. Continuing to showcase the company's extensive repertory and aggressive commissioning of World Premiere Commissions, our New York Season features 2 World Premieres to bring the number of exclusive works to 14 and 4 musical scores since its founding in 2012.

Gibney Dance Company is set to perform a newly commissioned work by Joanna Kotze and re-imagined works by Reggie Wilson at Lower Manhattan's Gibney Dance: Agnes Varis Performing Arts Center May 4–6. The program marks the second annual edition of GRIT: Gibney Repertory Initiative for Tomorrow, created to simultaneously commission new works from and re-imagine signature works by contemporary dance artists.

10 Hairy Legs returns to New Brunswick for its fifth consecutive season at a new location. The Dance Gallery Festival began ten years ago with the vision of Astrid von Ussar, Founder and Artistic Director. Their stated 'mission is to provide everything that choreographers want, need, and dream of in a professional setting: industry standard lighting, publicity packaging, and ample time for tech rehearsals.' Born of necessity, this collective, following von Ussar's vision, recognizes these lacks to be common to most aspiring and working choreographers (those not working with major, funded dance companies). Funding comes primarily from family and friends. This is an extraordinary find in the dance community; and one that begins to fill a void that has existed for far too long.

A pre-Thanksgiving Holiday Treat is in store for the whole family when Randy James' all male dance company, 10 Hairy Legs, and invited female guest artists will dance James' The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe at The Theatre at Raritan Valley Community College on Sunday, November 20 at 3:00 pm for public audiences and again onMonday, November 21 at 10:00 am for school groups. Randy James' all male repertory dance company, 10 Hairy Legs, returns to Crossroads Theatre, New Brunswick for its fourth consecutive annual appearance on Saturday, March 26 at 2:00 pm.

Ailey II's “indefatigable, virtuosic, and relentlessly sexy” dancers (Los Angeles Times) return to the Ailey Citigroup Theater with two programs of premieres and returning audience favorites. The upcoming New York season comes on the heels of the company's 26-city tour.  During a 14-performance engagement held over two weeks, their “off-the-charts energy” (The New Yorker) will be amplified in diverse repertory by emerging and established choreographers, including Jean Emile, Jamar Roberts, Ray Mercer, Kyle “JustSole” Clark, Dwight Rhoden, Manuel Vignoulle, and Jennifer Archibald.
