Tony Winner Andrea Martin to Return to Provincetown, 6/28-29

Andrea Martin is a two-time Emmy Award winner for the critically acclaimed sketch comedy series SCTV, and is also a two-time Tony Award winner. She won her second and most recent Tony Award last June of 2013 for her performance as Berthe in the Broadway revival of "Pippin" directed by Diane Paulus and her first award was for the musical 'My Favorite Year.' She is currently starring on Broadway at Lincoln Center in "Act One" by James Lapine opposite Tony Shalhoub. She is also filming a new television sitcom "Working The Engels" written by Katie Ford ("Miss Congeniality," "Desperate Housewives") which is now filming in Toronto. On June 28 and 29, this comic star of stage and screen returns to Broadway@ The Art House for the first time since its inaugural season in 2011. Cincinnati Shakespeare's PRIVATE LIVES Opens Tonight

BWW Reviews: Alley Theatre's VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE is Uneven but Entertaining

Christopher Durang was the talk of 2013 because of his gloomy new comedy VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE. Following a successful 2012 World Premiere in New Jersey, the show moved Off-Broadway before transitioning to Broadway and earned numerous award nominations, a handful of awards, and many positive reviews. When the Alley Theatre announced the show for this season, anticipation was high. Sadly, Houston audiences aren't quite getting the show they expected.

Bianca Amato and James Waterston Lead Shakespeare Theatre's PRIVATE LIVES, Now thru 7/13

Noel Coward's fast-talking comedy of manners Private Lives will close the Shakespeare Theatre Company's 2013-2014 Season. Directed by Maria Aitken (2009-2010 Season's As You Like It), Private Lives enjoyed wild success at the Huntington Theatre Company in 2012, being deemed 'a diamond-sharp production' (The Boston Globe) and will find a home at the Lansburgh Theatre from tonight, May 29-July 13, 2014 (450 7th Street NW).

Segerstrom Center to Welcome Shirley MacLaine, 9/20

Academy Award® winner, singer, dancer, writer and activist Shirley MacLaine makes her Segerstrom Center for the Arts debut in her remarkable one-woman show, sharing personal stories, photos and film clips from her illustrious Hollywood career and fascinating personal life on Saturday, September 20 at 8 p.m. in the Rene?e and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall. During An Evening with Shirley MacLaine, the celebrated artist will use her trademark wit and candid spirituality to discuss everything from her childhood to her early show business career to hanging out with The Rat Pack, JFK and His Holiness the Dalai Lama. MacLaine will also open her program to a question and answer session with the audience.

Michael Feinstein & BJ Ward Set for York's THE MARSHALL BARER PROJECT, 6/10

The York Theatre Company celebrates the great American lyricist Marshall Barer (Once Upon a Mattress) with a special concert event, The Marshall Barer Project, a musical tour through the life, career and mind of a man whose songs are shimmering jewels from the American Songbook. Starring BJ Ward with special guest Michael Feinstein. Directed by Gordon Hunt, The Marshall Barer Project will play two performances only on Tuesday June 10, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (Citicorp Building, entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).

BWW Reviews: VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE Opens at the KC Rep

Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike puts the dysfunctional in family as it opened on Friday March 21 at the Kansas City Repertory Theatre. Written by Christopher Durang the play directed by Eric Rosen, Artistic Director for the KC Rep, is a co-production with Baltimore's Center Stage. One audience member stated, "It is so natural that you no longer feel like you're watching a play, but rather become a member of the family."

Gingold Theatrical Group, under the leadership of David Staller, honored philanthropist Anita Jaffe and playwright/actor Charles Busch at its Annual Golden Shamrock Gala, earlier this week at Manhattan Penthouse (80 Fifth Ave at 14th Street). The GTG Golden Shamrock Award is given annually for artistic contribution to society. Past honorees include Terrence McNally, Judith Ivey, Brian Murray, and Robert Osborne. Suzanne Bertish, Carson Elrod, Claire Karpen & More to Lead CSC's THE HEIR APPARENT

Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Greg Reiner, will present David Ives' THE HEIR APPARENT, adapted from the play by Jean-Francois Regnard, beginning performances Friday, March 28 at CSC (136 East 13th Street). Directed by John Rando, THE HEIR APPARENT will feature Suzanne Bertish (Madame Argante), Carson Elrod (Crispin), Claire Karpen (Lisette), Amelia Pedlow (Isabelle), David Pittu (Scruple), Dave Quay (Eraste) and Paxton Whitehead (Geronte). The official press opening for THE HEIR APPARENT is Wednesday, April 9. The production will play at limited engagement through Sunday, May 4.

Michael Gill, Boyd Gaines, Jayne Atkinson & More to Lead Westport Country Playhouse's PACK OF LIES Reading, 3/10

Casting is announced for the Script in Hand playreading of 'Pack of Lies,' a provocative spy thriller, at Westport Country Playhouse, on Monday, March 10, 7 p.m. Actors, all alumni of previous Playhouse productions, include 'House of Cards' stars Jayne Atkinson and Michel Gill, and four-time Tony Award winner Boyd Gaines, as well as Kathleen McNenny, Alexis Molnar, Mark Shanahan, and Zoe Winters. Tickets are $15. Based on a true story, the play is written by Hugh Whitemore and directed by Anne Keefe.
