The UCSB Department of Theater and Dance Presents 2016-2017 Season

The Department of Theater and Dance at UC Santa Barbara is pleased to announce another exciting year of new work from our talented faculty, students, and guest artists. The new eclectic theater season is framed by two classic masterpieces and filled with some of the most exciting new work being created across the country. The dance line-up includes our highly acclaimed resident professional dance company Santa Barbara Dance Theater as well as two annual dance concerts featuring original choreography from the advanced UCSB dance students in addition to choreography from faculty members.

Red Bull Theater to Close 12th Season with 2016 Short New Play Festival

Red Bull Theater today announced that their Twelfth Season will conclude with Red Bull Theater's annual festival of 10-minute plays of heightened language and classic themes features two brand new commissions from Lisa D'Amour and Amy Freed alongside 6 brand new plays chosen from hundreds of submissions from playwrights across the country. The 2016 Short New Play Festival will be Monday July 25th (7:30pm) at Lucille Lortel Theatre. This year's plays will be Motley Fool by Kate Abbruzzese, Swan Song by Emily Taplin Boyd, Malaprop by Lisa D'amour, The Ghoul Of Amherst by Amy Freed, Warp And Weft by Anchuli Felicia King, Her Father's Daughter by Dakin Matthews, The Eighth Circle by Bridgette Dutta Portman, and The Opulent Complex by Lynn Rosen. Rajiv Joseph's ARCHDUKE, 'SOMETHING WICKED' and More Set for TheatreWorks Silicon Valley's 2016 New Works Festival

Continuing its commitment to developing new works, TheatreWorks Silicon Valley will gather playwrights and composers from across the nation for its 2016 New Works Festival at Palo Alto's Lucie Stern Theatre, where the public can attend performances, participate in a panel discussion with the artists, and share in the journey of developing new works for the American theatre.

2016 Barbour Playwrights Award Continues with ACROSS THE WAY

The 9th Annual Thomas Barbour Playwrights Award continues this week with a reading of Across the Way by Perry Guzzi. Set in the early 1990's in New York City, Across the Way tells the story of two sisters: Chris, who has a rising career and is moving to Los Angeles, and troubled Abby, who doesn't want to go. It is a story about protecting those we love, no matter the cost. Across the Way is directed by Amy Wright.

Actors Theatre of Louisville Announces Lineup for THE TENS This January
