Wiest & Monk Lead STORIES ON 5 STORIES at Playwrights Horizons, 11/9

Acclaimed theater company Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) has announced nine initial performers who will participate in the return of its unique benefit evening STORIES ON 5 STORIES on Monday, November 9. Among those taking part in the special event will be two-time Academy Award winner and two-time Obie Award winner Diane Wiest (Memory House at Playwrights Horizons/PH, Hannah and Her Sisters, Bullets Over Broadway), Tony Award winner Debra Monk (Assassins at PH, Redwood Curtain, Curtains), Obie Award winner Jason Butler Harner (current Stage Manager in Our Town, Hedda Gabler, The Coast of Utopia), Clarence Derwent Award winner Zoe Kazan (100 Saints You Should Know at PH; Come Back, Little Sheba; Things We Want), Theatre World Award winner Cassie Beck (The Drunken City and Prayer for My Enemy at PH), Cristin Milioti (The Retributionists at PH, the upcoming The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter), Sue Jean Kim (The Drunken City and BFE at PH, 365 Days/365 Plays), Carmen M. Herlihy (The Thugs, Crooked) and Greg Keller (Broadway's Uncle Vanya, The Rainmaker). Additional performers will be announced in the coming weeks.

A.R.T. Presents BEST OF BOTH WORLDS 11/20-1/3/2010

The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) is pleased to present Best of Both Worlds, a holiday musical for the whole family. Bursting with the sounds of R&B and gospel, Best of Both Worlds features book and lyrics by Randy Weiner, music by multiple Obie-winner Diedre Murray, and is directed by Tony Award winner Diane Paulus.

Women's Project-the nation's number one theater producing plays written and directed by women-will be honored Tuesday (10/20) by the nation's leading club of the arts, the historic Players Club on Gramercy Park, when The Players Foundation gives its inaugural Off-Broadway Excellence Award to Women's Project at ceremonies Tuesday, October 20, at 5:30pm at The Players Club, 16 Gramercy Park South. This is the first time The Players has granted this award.

Goodman Theatre Announces STOOP STORIES In Place Of JOAN D'ARC 9/11-10/11

Today Goodman Theatre announced a change in its upcoming 2009/2010 season lineup. Artistic Director Robert Falls has canceled the previously scheduled Joan D'Arc, directed by Aida Karic, and in its place selected Stoop Stories, an explosive solo piece by Dael Orlandersmith. A Chicago premiere, Stoop Stories will run September 11 - October 11 in the Goodman's 400-seat flexible Owen Bruner Theatre.

Goodman Theatre to Present World Premiere of HIGH HOLIDAYS, 10/31

Native Chicago playwright Alan Gross teams up with director Steven Robman to bring his newest work, High Holidays, to Goodman Theatre. At the center of this four-character drama-inspired by Gross' own life and family experience-is young Billy Roman (Max Zuppa) and the anxiety-riddled preparations for his Bar Mitzvah in 1963 north suburban Chicago.

2009 Robinson/Audelco Award Nominees Announced, RUINED Sweeps

The 2009 Vivian Robinson/Audelco Recognition Awards, which recognize for Excellence in Black Theatre, have been announced. Now in thier 37th year, the awards will be presented at a ceremony at the HarlemStages/Aaron Davis Hall on Monday, November 16 at 7pm.

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) is pleased to announce the full cast for Ordinary Days, a new musical with Music & Lyrics by Adam Gwon, directed by Marc Bruni. Ordinary Days will feature Lisa Brescia as 'Claire,' Hunter Foster as 'Jason,' Jared Gertner as 'Warren' and Kate Wetherhead as 'Deb.' This production marks the first musical presented in the Black Box Theatre.

TCG Announces The Publication of Lynn Nottage’s RUINED

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) is pleased to announce the publication of Lynn Nottage's much honored and acclaimed new play Ruined, winner of this year's Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The play is set in the brutally war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo, in a rainforest bar and brothel where shrewd matriarch Mama Nadi both protects and profits from the women whose bodies have become battlegrounds between government soldiers and rebel forces alike.
