Donmar Warehouse Announces the 2016 Spring Season!

Some big names picked up wins in the 2015 BWW:UK Awards - including Benedict Cumberbatch for Hamlet, Imelda Staunton for Gypsy, and Kerry Ellis for her supporting role in Cats!

Elaine Cassidy will be taking on the role of Madame de Tourvel in the Donmar's production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses, replacing Michelle Dockery who regrettably has had to withdraw from the production prior to the start of rehearsals.

The fall staging of a classic Shakespeare comedy, and an all new Imagine U family production of a popular musical for young audiences that focuses on friendship and the importance of differences, will continue Northwestern University's 2015-16 theater season.

The Lyric Hammersmith today announces its Spring 2016 Season. They will present the first professional production of Simon Stephen's HERONS since the play premiered at the Royal Court in 2001, directed by the Lyric's Artistic Director Sean Holmes. This is followed by the return of their co- production with Filter Theatre of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM last staged in 2012. Whilst the Royal Opera will present, two contemporary operas, PLEASURE by Mark Simpson featuring well-known British soprano Lesley Garrett and the world premiere of Sarah Kane's 4:48 PSYCHOSIS by Philip Venables, both presented in association with the Lyric.

Yesterday's October 15th live international broadcast of Academy Award nominee Benedict Cumberbatch in the title role of Lyndsey Turner's production of William Shakespeare's HAMLET was seen by more than 225,000 people, making it the largest global audience for a live broadcast day of any title in National Theatre Live history.

The Peterborough Players' Arts on Screen 2015-2016 Series announces a very special event. William Shakespeare's HAMLET will be broadcast live from London's Barbican Theatre to the Peterborough Players on Thursday, October 15th at 2pm. 

The School of Communication's Virginia Wadsworth Wirtz Center for the Performing Arts' popular National Theatre Live broadcasts, featuring popular stars of stage and screen, return to Northwestern University for the fifth consecutive year in mid-October.

'Tipping The Velvet' brings back the collaboration between playwright Laura Wade and director Lyndsey Turner. Last seen with the successful 'Posh', this is clearly a duo to be reckoned with and their adaptation of Sarah Waters' popular novel is playfully re-imagined with a masterful design.

The Lyric Hammersmith today announces its programme from September 2015. Laura Wade and Lyndsey Turner reunite after the success of Posh, to bring a new adaptation of Sarah Waters' Tipping the Velvet to the Lyric's main stage in September.

Additional official production photographs are released today (25 August) for Lyndsey Turner's production of William Shakespeare's Hamlet with Benedict Cumberbatch in the title role. Performances at the Barbican Theatre commenced earlier this month on 5 August, with opening night this evening.

Kirsty Besterman, David Cardy, Amanda Hadingue, Adelle Leonce and Andy Rush will join the previously announced Sally Messham and Laura Rogers in Laura Wade's new adaptation of Sarah Waters' bestselling novel, Tipping the Velvet, directed by Lyndsey Turner. They will be supported by a young ensemble. Tipping the Velvet will open at the Lyric Hammersmith on 28 September 2015, with previews from 18 September.
