New Perspectives Theatre Company and VH Theatrical Development Foundation are delighted to announce a new collaboration on a limited-run production of She Calls Me Firefly by Teresa Lotz, opening April 15, 2015 and running through April 26th with a varied performance schedule.

After an acclaimed Off-Broadway engagement, THE BRIGHTNESS OF HEAVEN, a new play by best-selling author Laura Pedersen, directed by Ludovica Villar-Hauser, will soon be presented in regional productions, and will start the new year with two presentations at the Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP) on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Hilton NY Midtown (1335 Avenue of the Americas) in the Regents Parlor (scheduled for 4:40 PM and 11:25 PM). This week Barry Weissler, who with wife Fran are one of Broadway's most successful producer teams, will be on Backstage with Peter Ledonne. Backstage is recorded in Patsy's Restaurant every Wednesday and broadcast on 970 AM Sunday from 12-1 PM.

Last Monday, October 27, the Midtown International Theater Festival presented the awards for its 15th anniversary season. Meshelle, 'The Indie-Mom of Comedy,' hosted this New York independent theatre tradition which celebrates the outstanding work of the festivals and productions found in the Midtown International Theatre Festival, Midwinter Madness Fest, Commercial Division, Children's Theatre Program, Cabaret Showcase, Staged Reading Series, and the Short Play Lab. Starting in the 1930s right through the 1980s, a quiet shift was taking place -- family-owned farms began to slowly disappear from the American landscape. They were replaced by huge malls, housing developments, or absorbed by larger commercial enterprises. The vanishing of America's farming community serves as the inspiration for This Will All Be Yours, a play with music by playwright and former New York Times columnist Laura Pedersen. It is one of the featured plays of The Midtown International Theatre Festival, celebrating its 15th anniversary, July 14 - August 10, 2014.

Year 2014 marks Year 15 for the MITF and John Chatterton is celebrating in a big way. Prolific producer John Chatterton has been a fixture of the Manhattan theatre scene for two decades. For much of that time, his brainchild, The Midtown International Theatre Festival, has been celebrating the diversity of theatre becoming a leader in presenting powerful works from around the world - and one of the best reasons to come to New York in the summer. The once bachelor MITF now has a full family of arts programs: The Short Play Lab, which will be part of this year's festivities; Cabaret MITF - featuring Broadway and cabaret performers - also be part of this summer's festivities; and the Commercial Division spotlighting works whose production values and subject matter are the stuff for Off- [and on] Broadway; and, of course, the founding Midtown International Theatre Festival. The Midwinter Madness Short Play Festival and the MITF Children's Theatre Festival shared in the fun earlier this year.

On Thursday, March 27, KIT (Kairos Italy Theatre) will celebrate NYC World Theatre Day at its production of 'TOSCA AND THE TWO DOWNSTAIRS' (TOSCA E LE ALTRE DUE), a satirical, behind-the-scenes sister-story to Puccini's 'Tosca' as imagined by one of the wittiest and most admired Italian playwright and actresses, Franca Valeri. The production takes stage March 20 to 30 at Dicapo Opera, 184 E 76th Street.

History Matters/Back to the Future will present FORGOTTEN TREASURERS: An Evening of Scenes by Historic Women Playwrights Read by Luminaries of Stage, Film, and Television. The performance will take place at 7:00pm on Monday, February 17th at The Helen Mills Theatre 139 West 26th Street (between 7th and 6th Avenues). Tickets are by invitation only.
