Ranging from classic musical comedy heroines that any actress would love to play to newer, more contemporary characters, Music City's women were given the opportunity to showcase their multitude of talents on various stages while again proving they are capable of virtually anything - and everything. Hennepin Theatre Trust announced today that Linda Eder, the Minnesota vocalist and actress raised in Brainerd who went from a record breaking debut on "Star Search" to sing at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, will serve as spokesperson for the Trust's SpotLight Musical Theatre Program.

Since their inception in 1996 the Paper Mill Playhouse (Mark S. Hoebee-Artistic Director, Mark W. Jones-Executive Director) Rising Star Awards for Excellence in High School Musical Theatre have ignited the careers of many notable performers, all of whom attended high school in New Jersey. Among the early nominees and winners are Academy Award® nominee Anne Hathaway, and Tony® award winner Laura Benanti.

Broadway stars Jane Krakowski, Maureen McGovern, and Linda Eder will join previously announced Tyne Daly and Betty Buckley with performance at Feinstein's at Regency in 2010. Krakowski will appear from May 4th through 15th and Eder from April 6th through 17th, while McGovern will present her cabaret show A Long and Winding Road for two performances on February 8th.

Doctor Henry Jekyll wages a fierce battle with his alter-ego, Edward Hyde, in the haunting musical, 'Jekyll and Hyde,' at Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre. Presented by Cheng/Ferrara Productions, dates and show times are: Fridays, Sept. 18 and 25 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays, Sept. 19 and 26 at 8 pm.; and Sundays, Sept. 20 and 27 at 2 p.m.

The June 15th benefit concert staging of Jekyll & Hyde at New York Society for Ethical Culture will feature two songs not heard in the show's initial Broadway bow. Bring on the Men, which was replaced by Good and Evil for the show's 1500+ performance run at the Plymouth Theater, was re-inserted into the show following the original Broadway production. Girls of the Night, which was cut out of town, is being included by special permission from the authors.
