Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra Performs Tonight at Carnegie Hall

The Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra (CSYO) will present a concert program at the legendary Carnegie Hall in New York City tonight, June 13 at 8 p.m. The CSYO, which is comprised of high school student musicians representing high schools from across the Tri- State, will experience a tour that most musicians only dream about culminating in the performance in the famous venue. The students will perform an unusual lineup of repertoire with CSYO Conductor (and CSO Assistant Conductor) William White.

The New York Philharmonic will present the U.S. Premiere of director Co?me de Bellescize's staging of Honegger's dramatic oratorio Joan of Arc at the Stake in season-finale performances conducted by Alan Gilbert and starring Academy Award-winning actress Marion Cotillard as Joan of Arc.

South Shore Conservatory's Duxbury Music Festival (DMF) launches its 10thanniversary celebration with a special kick-off weekend from today, May 15 through May 18, featuring two preview concerts, a volunteer planning meeting and a private reception. The Festival's celebratory season, held from July 17 through 31, will be one of sentimental renewal, featuring celebrated founding faculty members, renowned Russian pianist Oxana Yablonskaya and renowned Russian conductor/cellist Dmitry Yablonsky.

Poet And Librettist J. D. Mcclatchy to Preview New Opera at Kray Hall in Poets House, 11/8

AOP (American Opera Projects) and Poets House present a discussion with award-winning poet and librettist J. D. McClatchy followed by a reading of his latest opera libretto The Leopard, based on the acclaimed novel by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa and directed by James Robinson. The discussion will be joined by The Leopard's composer Michael Dellaira and will feature a performance of music from the opera-in-development and a mid-event reception with the artists. The event will take place on Saturday, November 8 at 3 pm at Kray Hall in Poets House (10 River Terrace, New York, NY 10282 in Battery Park City). Tickets are $10, $7 for students and seniors, free to Poets House members and can be purchased at operaprojects.org.

American pianist Carolyn Enger will perform concerts on two prestigious series: The Kosciuszko Foundation, Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 7 p.m. and the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., Sunday, November 30, 2014 at 3:30 p.m. The Kosciuszko Foundation concert includes a tribute to American composer Ned Rorem for his 91st birthday, and the National Gallery program features music by mid-20th-century American composers.

The Solti Foundation U.S. today announced details of an exciting new pilot residency project with the Grammy Award winning Florentine Opera Company to take place this 2014-15 season. The collaboration offers invaluable opera experience to two young conductors. Each three-week residency will provide private coaching and mentorship from Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor Joseph Rescigno, and opportunities for conducting staging/orchestra rehearsals, banda and/or off-stage chorus. During their time in Milwaukee, the residents will also attend all music and staging rehearsals and the opening night performance, as well as other duties as assigned.
