Opus Two With Special Guest Elena Shaddow Will Celebrate Sondheim at Feinstein's/54 Below

The acclaimed Opus Two violin-piano duo returns to Feinstein's/54 Below for an unforgettable 90th birthday tribute to Stephen Sondheim featuring the New York premiere of A Little Night Music: Suite for Violin and Piano and Bernstein's Four Moments from Candide, both arranged by veteran Broadway director Eric Stern, and Somewhere from West Side Story, arr. Raimundo Penaforte. Special guest Broadway vocalist Elena Shaddow will join the duo in Two House Songs: My House, from Peter Pan and Take Care of this House, from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, and Sondheim's I Remember, from Evening Primrose, also arranged by Stern. Eric Stern, who will host the evening, is a Broadway conductor, arranger, and music supervisor with 19 Broadway musicals to his credit. Brooklyn Art Song Society To Present Canteloube's Chant's d'Auvergne

On Friday, November, 1st, Brooklyn Art Song Society presents the second installment of its series Home with a rare complete performance of Joseph Canteloube's magnum opus, Chant's d'Auvergne. Canteloube collected the folk melodies of the Auvergne region and imbued these whimsical, earthy tunes with emotional depth and a rich Straussian harmonic palette. The work will be performed in the original piano version and sung in the French dialect Occitan. Soprano Maria Valdes and mezzo soprano Devony Smith make their BASS debuts, joined by sopranos Marnie Breckenridge and Laura Stricking. Art Historian Patricia Mainardi (CUNY) gives a pre- concert lecture at 7:00PM.

Newman & Oltman Guitar Duo Appears In Recital at Stiefel Concert Hall

The acclaimed Newman & Oltman Guitar Duo, the Ensemble in Residence for the Mannes School of Music, will perform a in recital at the Ernst C. Stiefel Concert Hall this Sunday, April 7 at 8 PM. Michael Newman and Laura Oltman will present their 40th Anniversary Retrospective program that includes works by Du an Bogdanovi , Manuel de Falla, Paul Moravec, Celso Machado, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Luiz Simas, Clarice Assad and Isaac Alb niz. Stiefel Concert Hall is located in The New School at 55 West 13th Street, New York. This concert is free and open to the public.

Thessaly Chamber Music Festival Returns This June

January 9, 2019: The program for the 2019 Thessaly Chamber Music Festival was announced today by Chamber Music Hellas President Vasos Papagapitos, and Artistic Director, Lowell Liebermann. Set in the mythical land of the gods in central Greece, the Thessaly Chamber Music Festival, now in its second year, will take place June 14-24, 2019 and will offer seven concerts of iconic masterpieces of the chamber music literature alongside compositions of Greek classical composers, as well as other neglected and unusual masterworks. The performances will be offered free of charge to the residents of the region and Master Classes are planned at the music conservatories in Larissa and Volos.
