Red Bull Theater today announced that their Twelfth Season will continue with Philip Massinger's The Roman Actor, directed by Louisa Proske, on Monday February 15th at 7:30 PM, at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, between Bleecker and Hudson).  Featured in the cast will be Oberon Adjepong, Mamoudou Athie, Tina Benko, Clifton Duncan, Ben Horner, Jennifer Ikeda, Patrick Page, Paul Lazar, Carolyn Smith, Sam Underwood, Adina Verson, and more, with live music performed by percussionist Satoshi Takeishi.  Tickets may be purchased online at www.redbulltheater.com or by phone at (212) 352-3101.

Red Bull Theater today announced that their Twelfth Season will continue with John Marston's THE MALCONTENT, directed by Derek Smith, featuring Matthew Rauch ('Banshee') four-time Academy Award nominee Marsha Mason, Kelley Curran, Christopher Innvar, Christina Rouner and more. This savage satire follows Malevole, the sarcastic court jester as he lambastes Renaissance Genoa with his caustic wit. Heartbeat Opera is a new company intent upon re-imagining opera in intimate spaces for a new generation. Employing a minimalism that allows the emotional integrity of the music to shine through, the company's work focuses on the body of the singer and the visceral power of the music. Co-Artistic Directors Louisa Proske and Ethan Heard, who trained together in the Directing program at the Yale School of Drama, are committed to nurturing the actor in every singer they work with. The company creates productions of classics and new pieces that are daring and visceral—productions that manifest the emotional grandeur and theatrical power of opera with minimal means. Heartbeat's one-act festival presentation of György Kurtág's Kafka-Fragments, directed by Heard, and the New York premiere of Jacques Offenbach's Daphnis & Chloé, in a new English translation directed by Proske, marks this young company's debut. Heartbeat Opera's resident music ensemble Cantata Profana, described by The New York Times as “a stylish early music ensemble,” will provide musical accompaniment.

Esteemed American composer, musician, educator, recording artist and philosopher Anthony Braxton kicks off his 69th birthday season with the 2014 Tri-Centric Music Festival in New York

Esteemed American composer, musician, educator, recording artist and philosopher Anthony Braxton will celebrate his 69th birthday with a series of premieres, performances and events encompassing every facet of his decades-long career, from improvisational pieces with small ensembles to full-scale orchestral works and operatic compositions. Taking a cue from Braxton's 'Tri-Axium' philosophical writings exploring the 'partials' of his life's work-music (sound logic) systems, thought (philosophical) systems, and ritual and ceremonial (belief) systems-the decision to celebrate his 69th birthday publicly (a number divisible by three) is a natural one. The season will pair rare performances of past compositions with premieres and recordings of new work by the prolific MacArthur Fellow, Doris Duke Performing Artist and recently-named NEA Jazz Master, simultaneously paying tribute to Braxton's career so far and looking forward to what's to come.
