MTV today announced One Direction (OneDirection.MTV.com) has been selected by its team of music staffers as 2012's Artist of the Year, ending a week long multiscreen celebration in which Carly Rae Jepsen's (CarlyRaeJepsen.MTV.com) Call Me Maybe was named Song of the Year.

The star-studded two-night event will feature special performances from One Direction - the global sensation that rose to fame on the U.K. version of 'The X Factor' - and world-renowned rapper Pitbull.

Sony Pictures announced today that it's making a 3D film showcasing London-based global music sensation One Direction. Acclaimed documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me) will direct the film, which TriStar Pictures will release on August 30, 2013 (Labor Day weekend).

Elektra recording artist Ed Sheeran has announced plans for his biggest U.S. headline tour to date. The 2013 trek gets underway January 17th at Houston's House of Blues and then continues through mid-February (see itinerary below). Among the tour's highlights are shows at some of America's most renowned venues, including Sheeran's debut performance on the Great Stage of New York's world famous Radio City Music Hall, set for January 30th.

MTV kicked off its annual countdown to the biggest night in music by officially announcing the nominees for the '2012 MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS and unveiling the first two VMA performers.

Pop sensation One Direction is on the road for their first-ever headlining North American tour in support of their debut album UP ALL NIGHT.
