SATCHMO AT THE WALDORF with John Douglas Thompson to Close Off-Broadway on 6/29

The producers have announced that the critically acclaimed Off-Broadway hit production of the new play, Satchmo at the Waldorf, written by Terry Teachout, will give its final performance Sunday afternoon, June 29, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at The Westside Theatre (407 West 43rd Street). Starring John Douglas Thompson, recipient of the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Solo Performance, and directed by Gordon Edelstein, Satchmo at the Waldorf began performances on February 15, 2014, opening to rave reviews on March 4, 2014. Upon closing, Satchmo at the Waldorf will have played 18 previews and 136 regular performances.

The world's longest-running LGBTQ Performance Festival, HOT! offers theater, music, dance, puppetry, performance art and homoeroticism for the whole family! HOT! is the pioneering festival of queer performance and culture - and the oldest annual festival of its kind in the world. Dixon Place is proud the HOT! serves as the model for other queer festivals across the globe and has become a performance destination for emerging talent in the LGBTQ community. This year's HOT!, featuring hundreds of participating artists presenting their newest creations, will run July 5th through August 2nd at Dixon Place, located at 161A Chrystie Street in New York City.

Thomas Cale, artist, of Rhinebeck, New York, has announced details of the Blue Notes Art Show, scheduled to open with a reception on Friday, June 27th, 2014, from 6pm-9pm at the Church of the Messiah Parish Hall, located on Montgomery Street in Rhinebeck, New York. This collection of paintings is dedicated to honoring iconic figures who have brought jazz music to the masses through the years. The show is inspired by greats like Sonny Rollins, Louis Armstrong, Chet Baker, and Charlie Parker, among others.

Michael Feinstein to Join Nick Ziobro For CD Release Concert at Birdland, 5/22

Michael Feinstein will join Nick Ziobro, the 17 year-old pop/jazz vocal sensation, as a special guest for his CD release concert at Birdland Jazz Club (315 West 44th Street in Manhattan) on Thursday, May 22 at 6:00 PM. The CD's all-star band - led by Tedd Firth and featuring music legend Bucky Pizzarelli on guitar, Jay Leonhart on bass, Ray Marchica on drums, Brian Pareschi on trumpet and flugelhorn, and Marc Phaneuf on saxophone and clarinet - will also join the concert. Nick's debut album A Lot of Livin' to Do is produced by Michael Feinstein, the two-time Emmy and five-time Grammy Award-nominated vocalist, pianist and musicologist.
