Irish Arts Center Announces Fall 2016 Season

Today, Irish Arts Center (IAC), the arts and cultural center dedicated to projecting a dynamic image of Ireland and Irish America for the 21st century, announces the lineup for its fall 2016 season, September 8 - December 17. IAC takes great pride in showcasing a broad range of some of Ireland's greatest artistic talent, in collaborating with American artists and arts institutions alike, and continuing to strengthen the transatlantic bonds of Irish-American culture. Featuring the works of several frequent IAC collaborators, including Paul Muldoon,Cassandra Wilson, Declan O'Rourke and Christine Tobin, as well as the premiere of several new works, the season epitomizes the dynamic vision IAC has for Irish culture in America at the outset of Ireland's centenary year of independence.

People's Light to Present World Premiere of THE HARASSMENT OF IRIS MALLOY

People's Light presents the world premiere of a suspenseful and sexy political drama by Producing Director Zak Berkman. The Harassment of Iris Malloy features award-winning stage, film and television actor Scott Bryce, and runs from June 15-July 10, 2016 in the Steinbright Stage. Carrie Rodriguez Comes to NYC Next Month at National Sawdust

Lola, the latest release from acclaimed Austin-based artist Carrie Rodriguez is out now via Luz/Thirty Tigers. Inspired by 1940s-era recordings of her San Antonio-born great aunt Eva Garza, the bilingual album presents a collection of ranchera-inspired originals by Rodriguez in English, Spanish and 'Spanglish,' coupled with Spanish songs written by some of her favorite Mexican composers. Rodriguez is touring widely in support of the album -- see dates below.

Since its founding in 1974 by Paul Zimet, Ellen Maddow and Tina Shepard-former members of Joseph Chaikin's seminal Open Theater-the Talking Band has remained a cornerstone of New York City's avant-garde theater community. Ben Brantley of The New York Times recently called them 'one of the boldest and most venerable politically minded companies in New York experimental theater.' American Theater magazine has deemed them 'one of the most exceptional theater companies in the country.' The Talking Band will present in association with La MaMa the world premiere of its latest work, Burnished by Grief, a sinister, music infused romantic comedy, at La MaMa'sfirst floor theater from January 22-February 7.

Winifred Haun & Dancers will re-stage their highly acclaimed full length ballet, 'Promise,' this weekend, October 17 & 18  at Historic Pleasant Home in Oak Park, IL.  The dance will be re-made especially for the beautiful spaces in and around Pleasant Home, representing a true collaboration between a space and a dance.
