TRIPTYCH THEATRE GROUP presents the West Coast premiere of STOCKHOLM, written by Bryony Lavery (Frozen), with choreography by Stephen Buescher and directed by Kim Rubenstein. STOCKHOLM will preview on Friday, January 11 at 8pm and open on Saturday, January 12 at 8pm will run through Monday, January 28 at The Pico Playhouse, 10508 W. Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director/CEO) is thrilled to announce the eighth annual Roundabout Underground Reading Series, a five-night event that includes nightly readings of new works written and directed by emerging artists, as well as post-show receptions. The Reading Series will feature new works by Aaron Carter, Emily Feldman, Dave Harris, Jonathan Spector and Sanaz Toossi.

New Light Theater Project is thrilled to present the world premiere of THE AMERICAN TRADITION written by Ray Yamanouchi and directed by Axel Avin, Jr. THE AMERICAN TRADITION begins performances on Friday, January 25 for a limited engagement through Saturday, February 16. 

New York Theatre Workshop presents the world premiere of Slave Play by Jeremy O. Harris (Daddy, Zola), directed by two-time Obie Award winner Robert O'Hara (Bootycandy), which will now play additional performances through Sunday January 13, 2019. Slave Play began previews on Monday, November 19, 2018 and opened last night, Sunday, December 9 at New York Theatre Workshop (79 E. 4th Street New York, NY 10003).

Harris (Daddy, Zola), directed by two-time Obie Award winner Robert O'Hara (Bootycandy), will run for an additional two weeks. Originally scheduled to play its final performance on December 30, 2018, Slave Play will now play additional performances through Sunday January 13, 2019. Slave Play began previews on Monday, November 19, 2018 and will open Sunday, December 9 at New York Theatre Workshop (79 E. 4th Street New York, NY 10003).

The Brown/Trinity Rep MFA Program presents its December thesis show, tick, tick…BOOM!, directed and choreographed by Ken-Matt Martin, a third year student in the Brown/Trinity Rep MFA Directing program. Written by Jonathan Larson, the Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning composer of Rent, this rock musical set in 1990 New York City tells the story of an aspiring theater composer, as he is forced to reevaluate his passions and decide whether he should keep pursuing his dream or give it all up for a stable career. Performances run November 29 through December 9 at the Pell Chafee Performance Center, 87 Empire St., Downtown Providence. General admission is $15 with a discounted price of $10 for seniors and $7 for students. The design team includes Parmida Ziaei (set/props designer), Sadiqua Iman (costume designer), Johanna Melamed (sound designer), Suzi Tucker (projection designer), Zanna King (lighting designer), Mike Stephens (tech supervisor), and Madison Silva (stage manager).

Lynn University's College of Arts and Sciences today announced the second production by its new Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) in drama program. The B.F.A. in drama is the most prestigious undergraduate degree available for theater students. Lynn's program offers students concentrated theatrical training that prepares them to work professionally in theater, movies, television and musicals.

Bristol Old Vic Theatre School final year students are mounting the astonishingly pertinent Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning Clybourne Park by Bruce Norris. They are performing for the first time on the stage of Bristol Old Vic's new Weston Studio Theatre, designated home to innovation and the next generation of theatre makers.

Since its creation in 2015, JAG Productions focuses on creating theater to engage challenging issues of race, gender, sexuality and identity.

Portland Stage will stage the World Premiere of Refuge Malja by Bess Welden with Arabic Translation by Ali Al-Mshakheel begins Oct 30 through Nov 18, opens for reviewers Friday Nov 2, 2018. When a Jewish-American war photographer feels compelled to assist a young refugee who steps in front of her camera, she calls an old friend to translate but hesitates to reveal why she is so drawn to the boy. This poetic, decade-spanning drama explores how we each define and find our own malja (refuge). Affiliate Artist Bess Welden's Refuge Malja was developed as part of the 2017 Little Festival of the Unexpected and was subsequently workshopped in the Studio Series in January of 2018. Refuge Malja is made possible with support from the Maine Humanities Council and the Maine Arts Commission.

Vineyard Theatre's 2018-19 Paula Vogel Playwriting Award was recently presented to Jeremy O. Harris.
