L.A. Theatre Works Airs Ceremonies in Dark Old Men

Celebrate Black History Month with L.A. Theatre Works. Beginning Saturday, February 27, L.A. Theatre Works' Radio Theatre Series will air Ceremonies in Dark Old Men by Lonne Elder III, starring Rocky Carroll, John Cothran Jr., Brandon Dirden, Jason Dirden, Julia Pace Mitchell, Charlie Robinson, Glynn Turman and Michole Briana White.

Sam Wallin Given Wagner College Stanley Drama Award 4/6

The 2009 Wagner College Stanley Drama Award will be presented on Monday, April 6 at 6 p.m. at the historic Lambs Club, 3 W. 51st St. in Manhattan, America's first professional theatrical club. The winner of the 53rd annual Stanley Award is playwright Sam Wallin of Vancouver, Washington, for his mystery drama, 'Memory Fragments.'

Today the Wagner College Theater Department announced that the 53rd annual Stanley Drama Award has been given to playwright Sam Wallin of Vancouver, Washington for his mystery drama, 'Memory Fragments.' Macy's is hosting a month-long series of activities and special events for Black History Month, showcasing black culture through theatrical, art, song, prose and cuisine presentations. The events are free and open to the public.

Glynn Turman, Rocky Carroll to Star in "Ceremonies in Dark Old Men" January 14-18

Emmy Award winner Glynn Turman (The Wire), Tony nominee Rocky Carroll (Navy NCIS) and John Cothran, Jr. (Black Snake Moan) are set to head the cast when L.A. Theatre Works presents Ceremonies in Dark Old Men by Academy Award nominee Lonne Elder, III. Five performances take place January 14-18 at the Skirball Cultural Center, where they will be recorded to air on LATW's nationally syndicated, weekly radio theater series, The Play's The Thing.

'CEREMONIES IN DARK OLD MEN' To Air On Radio 1/13 - 18

Ceremonies in Dark Old Men - The Negro Ensemble Company's production of Ceremonies in Dark Old Men, about a Harlem family that dreams of a better life but pursues it in tragic ways, was one of the most meaningful theatrical events of the late sixties and was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in Drama. Ceremonies opened the door for new generation of African American playwrights, August Wilson among them. Emmy Award winner Glynn Turman (The Wire), Tony nominee Rocky Carroll (Navy NCIS) and John Cothran, Jr. (Black Snake Moan) are set to head the cast when L.A. Theatre Works records five performances of Ceremonies in Dark Old Men to air on its nationally-syndicated radio theater series, The Play's The Thing, which broadcasts weekly on public and satellite radio.

Signature's HOME Ends Extended Run 1/11

Signature Theatre Company's (James Houghton, Founding Artistic Director; Erika Mallin, Executive Director) will end their production of HOME today, Sunday, January 11th. HOME, by Samm-Art Williams and directed by Ron OJ Parson, is the second production of Signature's 2008-2009 season celebrating the historic Negro Ensemble Company (NEC). The show began performances on November 11th and opened December 7th at the Peter Norton Space located at 555 West 42nd Street (between 10th and 11th Avenues).
