Shakespeare's raucous comedy The Taming of the Shrew opens Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park 2017 season on June 1st.

FRIGID New York @ Horse Trade in association with Manhattan Theatre Source is presenting the 2017 EstroGenius Festival, a multimedia and multi-genre performance festival showcasing dynamic, diverse female voices from a variety of disciplines, now through May 28 at The Kraine Theater (85 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery).

The 40th Anniversary Bay Area Playwrights Festival runs July 13 - 23, 2017 at Custom Made Theatre, 533 Sutter Street in the heart of San Francisco's Theater District.  In addition to twelve staged readings, the Festival will offer a Theater Professionals weekend 7/21-23, special events and an anniversary celebration 7/13.  Tickets on sale June 1st at bayareaplaywrightsfestival.org.

PlayPenn, Philadelphia's artist-driven organization dedicated to improving the way in which new plays are developed, has announced their Summer 2017 education offerings, including several opportunities to 'binge learn' during curated packages created especially for ambitious students.

Executive/Artistic Director Kathryn McGill has announced the 2017 Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park season. The upcoming season marks the company's 33rd and includes something for everyone, with raucous comedy, high wit , pathos and revenge.

Flux Theatre Ensemble will present the New York City premiere of World Builders by Johnna Adams (Gidion's Knot, Sans Merci, The Angel Eaters Trilogy) April 28 - May 13 at the West End Theatre (263 W 86th St, New York, NY 10024). PLAYHOUSE CREATURES is a funny and heartbreaking look at what life was like for a woman in theatre during England's Restoration period. Sadly, it wasn't much different from today.

???????NINA MEHTA has joined the cast of the FUTURE IS FEMALE FESTIVAL, to be presented at Bernie Wohl Center, Wednesday, March 22, at 7pm. The popular actress has appeared in HBO's GIRLS, and Comedy Central's INSIDE AMY SCHUMER and is a permanent ensemble member of The Collective NY (JACKSON HEIGHTS 3AM).

On Wednesday, March 22, 7pm, the 29th Street Playwrights Collective and Goddard Riverside will join theaters, playwrights, directors and actors throughout the US and Canada who have united during Women's History Month to present THE FUTURE IS FEMALE FESTIVAL, a national series of staged readings and productions of 10-minute plays written by women of all backgrounds on the subject 'The Future is Female' and what that means to them.

Red Bull Theater today announced that their seventh annual festival of 10-minute plays of heightened language and classic themes will feature two brand new commissions from Dael Orlandersmith and Arthur Kopit, alongside six brand new plays chosen from hundreds of submissions from playwrights across the country. 

Conversation Starters, Tampa Repertory Theatre and Creative Loafing's series of staged readings of new plays, continues with Dog Act, a post-apocalyptic vaudeville by Liz Duffy Adams.  The reading will take place on February 13that 7:30pm in the Creative Loafing Space, 1911 N. 13th Street, Tampa, Florida 33605.  There will be a discussion with the cast and director after the reading.  Patrons can purchase tickets at TampaRep.org/Dog or at the door on the night of the performance, starting at 6:30pm.
