Ralph Lee's Mettawee River Theatre Company to Present THE DANCING FOX, 9/5-14

Ralph Lee's Mettawee River Theatre Company will return for its annual September season in the lovely Outdoor Garden of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine with 'The Dancing Fox: Wisdom Tales of the Middle East,' five enchanting tales from the shared folk traditions of Jews and Arabs, including the writings of Sufi mystics, along with fables and folklore of the region. Six weekend performances, September 5, 6, 7 and 12, 13, 14 at 7:30 PM in the Garden, entrance on 111th Street & Amsterdam Avenue. Chairs are provided, but audiences may also bring blankets for closer seating in front of the chairs - and snacks! 'The Dancing Fox' is recommended for audience members eight years and older.

The Brewing Dept. to Present BOBRAUSCHENBERGAMERICA, 8/14-30

The Brewing Dept. will present a free, outdoor production of Chuck Mee's bobrauschenbergamerica directed by Emily Kaplan this August. The production runs August 14 - 30th, 2014 at 108th Street Lawn in Riverside Park (enter at 108th Street and Riverside Drive).

MDC Live Arts Launches Second Live Arts Lab Featuring Acclaimed Interdisciplinary Artist Baba Israel

Miami Dade College's (MDC) MDC Live Arts will present the 2014 edition of the Live Arts Lab, a professional development laboratory for local working artists. Acclaimed interdisciplinary artist Baba Israel, who was first introduced to South Florida audiences during YoungArts week, will lead the Lab August 5 - 30 at New World School of the Arts (NWSA) at MDC in downtown Miami.

The Vertical Company presents "O Walter, My Walter" by Elena Zucker at The Celebration of Whimsy Theatre (the former Living Theatre home). 21-A Cinton Street, NYC. Previews for the Off Broadway play continue through tonight, May 15th and the Opening is Monday, May 19th at 8:00 pm for the limited engagement.

The Vertical Company's O WALTER, MY WALTER Begins this Week

The Vertical Company presents "O Walter, My Walter" by Elena Zucker at The Celebration of Whimsy Theatre (the former Living Theatre home). 21-A Cinton Street, NYC. Previews begin this week for the Off Broadway play on Thursday, May 15th and the Opening is Monday, May 19that 8:00 pm for the limited engagement. Set Design is by Simon Harding, (who recently did the set design for 3LD's amazing Tyson/Ali). The Lighting Design by Zach Murphy (Lighting supervisor at The Public Theatre). The award-winning play is directed by the playwright. This production features some of New York City's most talented physical theater actors: Andrew Baldwin, Richard Crawford, Mischa Ipp, Scott Janes, Timur Kocak, Jenny Lee Mitchell, Vicki Oceguera, Michael Villastrego, William Webber.

Shakespeare Spotlight: NOW: In the Wings on a World Stage, A Window Into Kevin Spacey's Richard III

Most people never get the opportunity to experience theatre life on the road firsthand but now, thanks to Kevin Spacey and director Sam Mendes, everyone is able to go along for an amazing ride in the new documentary, NOW: In the Wings on a World Stage. The 90-minute film follows twenty British and American actors on a whirlwind ten month international tour of Richard III and will be available for digital download beginning May 2.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre to Present Tony Kushner's 'THE INTELLIGENT HOMOSEXUAL'S GUIDE', Begin. 5/16

Berkeley Repertory Theatre welcomes back Pulitzer Prize winner Tony Kushner for the West Coast premiere of his latest play, The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures, an epic tale of love, family, sex, money, and politics. Kushner reunites with one of his favorite collaborators, Michael Leibert Artistic Director Tony Taccone, to bring this sweeping drama to the Roda Theatre. With his trademark mix of soaring intellect and searing emotion, the legendary writer unfurls a poignant story about an Italian family in Brooklyn. When retired longshoreman Gus Marcantonio decides to die, his kids come home with a raucous parade of lovers and spouses to find that even the house keeps secrets. A portrait of a dysfunctional family filled with weighty dialogue, humor, and passion, Kushner's four-act play previews Friday, May 16, opens on Wednesday, May 21, and runs through Sunday, June 29, 2014.

TCG Releases 52nd Annual World Theatre Day Messages from Brett Bailey and Diane Rodriguez

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre and home of the U.S. Center of the International Theatre Institute (ITI-US), has released Brett Bailey and Diane Rodriguez's World Theatre Day 2014 messages. Each year, a renowned theatre artist of world stature is invited by ITI Worldwide in Paris to craft the International Message, which is then translated into more than 20 languages to mark the global occasion. This year, TCG has renewed their tradition of asking a noted U.S. artist to also reflect on the themes of World Theatre Day.
