Emmy, Grammy and Tony Award-winning actress Cynthia Nixon will join soprano Lisa Delan and pianist Kristin Pankonin in an evening that features Gordon Getty's The White Election, a song cycle based on the poetry of Emily Dickinson. The Denver Center Theatre Company (DCTC) concluded its Seventh Annual Colorado New Play Summit on a high note, with the announcement that one of its premieres has been signed for a production in New York. The three-day festival, which has rapidly become one of the nation's top tier new play festivals, included multiple standing-room-only showings of three play readings, a staged reading of a musical, a multimedia workshop, and two fully-produced main stage plays, one of which - The Whale, by 2011 Obie winner Samuel D. Hunter - will now be presented in October 2012 at New York's Playwrights Horizons.

Living Out is the story of Nancy and Richard, a family of lawyers living in an affluent section of Los Angeles. They are seeking a "nanny" to look after their newborn daughter. On the other side of town live Ana Hernandez and husband Bobby, two undocumented immigrants from El Salvador who fled their country because of a civil war largely funded by the United States. Ana needs a job that pays enough money to bring her older son, Tomas, to this country, but all her searches as a caregiver end in rejection because she has a child at home. Thus, when Ana meets Nancy, she lies-and says both her boys are in El Salvador. Nancy and Richard overlook Ana's illegal status because they feel the war was immoral.
