Carrie: The Musical - a one-night benefit concert will be performed in support of the Actors' Fund of Canada at St. Michael's College School Centre for the Arts in Toronto at 8 p.m. on Monday November 16th. Montreal's English theatre community gathered in celebration at the beautiful and historic Rialto Theatre on Monday October 26th for the 3rd annual METAs ceremony, honouring excellence in Montreal English theatre for the 2014-2015 Season.
The Montreal English Theatre Awards, or METAs, were established in 2012 as a response to the need for the Montreal English Theatre community to promote and encourage their visibility and successes provincially, nationally and internationally. The Toronto Star writes that the Canadian premiere of the Tony Award-winning KINKY BOOTS, which opened June 28 at the Royal Alexandra Theatre, has been extended through November 8, 2015. Tickets for the added six weeks of performances go on sale July 6.

American Broadway touring vet Alan Mingo Jr. stars as Lola - the role originated by Billy Porter in the Broadway production - in Toronto's KINKY BOOTS, while Graham Scott Fleming plays Charlie Price, the young man who inherits a shoe factory from his father, only to learn it isn't financially stable.
Lead producers Daryl Roth, Hal Luftig and David Mirvish present the Canadian premiere production of Broadway's Kinky Boots, the smash-hit musical that brings together four-time Tony® Award-winner Harvey Fierstein (Book) and Grammy® Award-winning rock icon Cyndi Lauper (Tony Award-winner for Best Score for Kinky Boots). I wasn't quite sure what to expect when walking into Therefore Choose Life, a new play based on a true story by Broadway leading man Jake Epstein and his mother Kathy Kacer, produced by The Harold Green Jewish Theatre Company. The play is about a man (Joseph, played by Avery Saltzman) who is married during the holocaust, and presumes his wife dead after being separated in a concentration camp. After the war he moves to Toronto and eventually remarries and has a son, never forgetting the love he lost. Thirty years later, just before his 25th wedding anniversary, he learns his first wife is alive and coming to see him.
