Excitement is building for the Toronto premiere of the new Cameron Mackintosh production of Boublil & Schonberg's masterpiece LES MISERABLES, the first show of the 2013-2014 Mirvish Subscription Season.

The Canadian production of THE WIZARD OF OZ will play its final performance in Toronto today, August 18 at the Ed Mirvish Theatre. THE WIZARD OF OZ leaves Toronto to embark on an extensive North American Tour that kicks off on September 10, 2013 at The Smith Center in Las Vegas, NV. The North American tour includes engagements in key markets including: Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Seattle, St. Paul, Houston and Philadelphia.

Ten months after she won the coveted role of Dorothy on CBC's Over the Rainbow, Danielle Wade is commanding the stage of the Ed Mirvish Theatre eight shows a week, bringing her big, brassy voice and girl next door charm to the lead role in The Wizard of Oz. BWW sat down to talk with her about the journey so far, and how it's changed her life.

The 2013 Dora Awards took place in Toronto on Monday June 25th at The St Lawrence Centre for the Arts. To accommodate demand, the Bluma theatre was also opened up for guests and the awards were live-streamed via 'Doratron'. As in previous years, there was a glamorous VIP ceremony pre-show followed by a post show street party that closed down Front Street. A record number of Doras were given out, with Young People's Theatre's CINDERELLA the runaway hit of the evening with seven awards. BWW is thrilled readers photos from the evening.

From the very first performance on December 20, 2012, THE WIZARD OF OZ has been a bona fide box office hit. Audiences have packed the Ed Mirvish Theatre (formerly the Canon) to enjoy this new telling of the classic story. More than 60,000 people have already seen the show in just 35 performances, bringing in over $6M at the box office.

According to the Toronto Star, LES MISERABLES will soon be heading back to Toronto in the 2013-2014 Mirvish season. Aiming for a September 2013 opening, the show will reportedly feature West End star Ramin Karimloo as 'Jean Valjean'- a role that he previously played on the London stage.

The North American Premiere of The Wizard of Oz took place Sunday at The Ed Mirvish Theatre, featuring CBC Over the Rainbow winner Danielle Wade in the iconic role of Dorothy.
