A one-person show - in this case performed with formidable skill by Lisa Dwan - Beckett's No's Knife is certainly an unusual choice by the Old Vic. Truly, though, this production is even more of an event in that it is the first time the text has actually been staged rather than just read aloud.

The Old Vic is pleased to present the world premiere of No's Knife. Conceived and performed by Lisa Dwan and co-directed with The Old Vic's Season 2 Baylis Director Joe Murphy, No's Knife opens on 3 October with previews from 29 September 2016.

The Old Vic today announces Artistic Director Matthew Warchus' second season, continuing a wide-ranging programme that includes world premieres, new writing, musicals, classic revivals and The Old Vic Variety Nights. The Irish Repertory Theatre has announced that Conor McPherson's acclaimed play SHINING CITY, starring two-time Tony Award-winner Matthew Broderick, will inaugurate its newly renovated theater, located at 132 West 22nd Street.

Irish actress Lisa Dwan, the premier interpreter of Samuel Beckett, is about to step down from the position this spring, but before she does, she will make  an appearance with the Beckett Trilogy at the The Broad Stage in Santa Monica in April. Why is this the first time that all 3 plays have been performed together? Well I guess one reason is that Not I is rarely performed and Footfalls has never been performed by one actress playing both roles of Mother (off stage) and May (on stage), and to my knowledge no other actress has tried to perform all three roles in one evening. Up until I tried it, I didn't even think it was possible.
