The Public Theater presents the New York premiere of Tony Kushner's THE INTELLIGENT HOMOSEXUAL'S GUIDE TO CAPITALISM AND SOCIALISM WITH A KEY TO THE SCRIPTURES. Michael Greif, who directed the world premiere at the Guthrie in April 2009, will direct the New York premiere. Rehearsals begin Monday, February 7 in New York. The Public Theater Artistic Director Oskar Eustis, Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson and Amnesty International USA hosted a rally on Wednesday, January 19 from 12 PM to 1 PM to show solidarity and support for the persecuted Belarus artists and activists, including Belarus Free Theater whose powerful production of BEING Harold Pinter was just staged to great acclaim at this year's Under the Radar Festival.

Public Theater Artistic Director Oskar Eustis, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Alec Baldwin, Linda Emond, Taylor Mac, Mandy Patinkin and Lapham's Quarterly Editor Lewis Lapham will celebrate the release of Lapham's Quarterly's Winter 2011 issue 'Celebrity' on Thursday, January 20 at 7 p.m. at Joe's Pub. Hoffman Leads DEATH OF A SALESMAN on Broadway, Fall 2011; Nichols Directs

The New York Times has just broke the news that stage and screen vet Philip Seymour Hoffman and Linda Emond will lead a revival of Death of a Salesman on Broadway as Willy and Linda Loman. The production will be directed by Mike Nicols and open on Broadway next fall. Hoffman and Nicols have been working out details for the production for months, according the report. The pair last collaborated on 2001 production of the Seagull in Central Park.

RIALTO CHATTER: Philip Seymour Hoffman to Star in DEATH OF A SALESMAN?

Michael Riedel reports in today's New York Post that talks are under way for Philip Seymour Hoffman to star in a Broadway revival of DEATH OF A SALESMAN, to be directed by Mike Nichols. He also reports that Linda Emond is said to be the top choice to play Loman's wife, Linda in the production which is aiming for 2011.

Shakespeare in the Park Ends Run

The Public Theater has announced additional casting for the 2010 Shakespeare in the Park summer season featuring THE WINTER'S TALE, directed by Michael Greif, and THE MERCHANT OF VENICE, directed by Daniel Sullivan, in repertory June 9-August 1.
