BWW Interviews: Deedee O'Malley and Janet Cole Valdez Dish on TUTS Underground's WAITING FOR JOHNNY DEPP

Have you made it to TUTS Underground's world premiere of WAITING FOR JOHNNY DEPP? If you haven't, you don't have much time left! This one-woman musical follows the adventures of a New York actress, Rita Donatella, as she vies for her dream role in a film with Johnny Depp. Deedee O'Malley took time out of their busy schedules to dish with BWW-Houston about WAITING FOR JOHNNY DEPP. Although they were missing their other partner-in-crime, Bettie Ross, these two writers shared with us why you don't want to miss this heartfelt and laugh-out-loud show.

Breaking News: THE TEMPEST with Sam Waterston & CYMBELINE Set for The Public's 2015 Shakespeare in the Park Season; Michael Greif, Daniel Sullivan to Direct!

The Public Theater announced the line-up today for the 2015 FREE Shakespeare in the Park season, continuing a 53-year tradition of free theater in Central Park. Since 1962, over five million people have enjoyed more than 150 free productions of Shakespeare and other classical works and musicals at the Delacorte Theater. Conceived by founder Joe Papp as a way to make great theater accessible to all, The Public's free Shakespeare in the Park continues to be the bedrock of the Company's mission to increase access and engage the community. This summer, free Shakespeare in the Park will feature Shakespeare's late romances with THE TEMPEST (May 27-July 5), directed by Tony Award nominee Michael Greif, and CYMBELINE (July 27-August 23), directed by Tony Award winner Daniel Sullivan.

Allison Janney Set for 'CONVERSATIONS WITH COCO' at LA LGBT Center, 3/7

For the ninth installment of the Los Angeles LGBT Center's ongoing series Conversations With Coco - Miss Coco Peru's series of live, unscripted interviews with celebrated performing artists - the LA drag legend welcomes the multiple award-winning actress Allison Janney to the Center's Renberg Theatre on Saturday, March 7, at 8pm.

Dixon Place to Present THE ABSOLUTE BRIGHTNESS OF LEONARD PELKEY, Begin. 2/7

Dixon Place's new production, THE ABSOLUTE BRIGHTNESS OF LEONARD PELKEY, will begin previews Saturday, February 7th, and open on Sunday, February 22nd at 6:00 PM. Based on his best-selling novel, the show features critically acclaimed, Emmy nominated and award-winning storyteller James Lecesne, who portrays the life and characters of a Jersey Shore town where a young boy goes missing. The play is directed by Tony Speciale, with visuals by Matthew Sandager and incidental music by Duncan Sheik, some of which will be released in his new record "Legerdemain" in April 2015. THE ABSOLUTE BRIGHTNESS OF LEONARD PELKEY will run through March 28th at Dixon Place (161 Chrystie Street). Eli Lieb's Concert at Renberg Theatre to Benefit LA LGBT Center, 2/28

The Los Angeles LGBT Center's Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center has announced Eli Lieb In Concert, a special one-night-only benefit event at the Center's plush and intimate Renberg Theatre on Saturday, February 28, at 8pm. The show will be a rare “unplugged appearance” featuring just Lieb and his acoustic guitar.

BWW Live Recap: Lots of Laughs as Theatre Stars Shine at 72nd Golden Globes

Film and television stars (and audiences) are sure to come out in droves when funny ladies Tina Fey and Amy Poehler take the stage for a final time (so they say!) to host the Golden Globes, tonight on NBC at 8pm/7c. While the annual ceremony wouldn't be as geared toward theatre people as, say, the Tony Awards (June 7th on CBS for those who need a heads-up), this year is a bit different, with a collection of nominees having Broadway experience, and a few films up for nods having ties to theatre as well.
