Second Stage Theatre's production of Terrence McNally's play, Lips Together, Teeth Apart, directed by Peter DuBois, officially opened last night, October 29, 2014. The production features Michael Chernus(Obie Award winner for In the Wake), Tracee Chimo (Lortel Award winner for Bad Jews, 2ST Uptown's Bachelorette), America Ferrera(Emmy Award winner for 'Ugly Betty') andAustin Lysy (2ST's The Water's Edge). Emmy Award winner and Executive Director, Elliot Shoenman, and his son Artistic Director, Daniel Shoenman, founded the Inkwell Theater ten years ago, subsequently establishing national critical acclaim for the company with such productions as the Ovation Award nominated AfterMath, starring Annie Potts. On July 18th they will launch Louise Munson's (Liam Rector Scholar in Fiction) play Luigi, offering Los Angeles audiences a first look at her work when this World Premiere opens at the VS Theatre.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amanda Peet, Jason Mantzoukas, and Natasha Lyonne have signed on to join Jason Sudeikis, Alison Brie, and Adam Scott in Sidney Kimmel's upcoming romantic comedy SLEEPING WITH OTHER PEOPLE Leslye Headland will write and direct.

Profiles Theatre announces the final extension for the Midwest premiere of Cock by Mike Bartlett, directed by Artistic Director Darrell W. Cox. The production opened February 20, 2014 and will extend for the second time through June 29, 2014. Cast members Torrey Hanson, Eleni Pappageorge, Jake Szczepaniak continue their roles with Nik Kourtis joining the cast. Performances are held at The Main Stage, 4139 N. Broadway.

LiveWire Chicago Theatre, in association with the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, kicks off its 2013-14 season with the Chicago premiere of the decidedly 21st century comedy ASSISTANCE, by Leslye Headland, directed by LiveWire Executive Director Joshua Aaron Weinstein, playing through March 16, 2014 at The DCASE Storefront Theater, 66 E. Randolph St. in Chicago. The production features Brian E. Crawford, Krista D'Agostino*, Lauren Fisher, Matthew Nerber, John Taflan* and Hilary Williams*. Animus Theatre Company has announced its 2014 Season, which will feature Matthew Lillard, Leslye Headland, and Alan Langdon, with plays by Bob Glaudini, Tennessee Williams, and Headland. The MainStage Production will be Dutch Heart of Man by Glaudini, directed by Alan Langdon, running April 24th thru May 11th. The Workshop Production will feature four short plays by Tennessee Williams: Moony's Kid Don't Cry; The Long Goodbye; Talk to Me Like the Rain and Let Me Listen; and The Pink Bedroom. The one-act plays, all presented nightly, will be directed by Matthew Lillard and run August 1st thru 10th. Both productions will be presented at the Cherry Lane Theatre in downtown NYC, the 2014 home of Animus Theatre Company. The season will be rounded out in the fall/winter with a multi-media festival headlined by Leslye Headland's Seven Deadly Sin Cycle Plays (Cinephillia, Bachelorette, Assistance, Surfer Girl, Reverb, and The Accidental Blonde) presented as a collection of readings for the first time in New York City. Cast and creatives for all of the above will be announced at a later date.

"Assistance" at Epic Theatre Company, which closed this weekend, had its shortfalls; however, it was still an engaging and energetic night at the theatre.

Haven Entertainment and Firefly Theater & Films will present the fourth annual Unscreened, a lively evening of four world-premiere short plays by some of Hollywood's fastest-rising writers and featuring a multi-star cast, opening Monday night, March 3 at the Lillian Theater.
