Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director) will launch its 31st season this fall with the New York premiere of Anna Deavere Smith's LET ME DOWN EASY. Conceived, written, and performed by Ms. Smith and directed by Leonard Foglia, LET ME DOWN EASY will begin preview performances on Tuesday, September 15 and will officially open on Wednesday, October 7 at 6:45pm.

Theater heavyweights Leslie Uggams, Clifton Davis, Alan Campbell, Leslie Becker, Sherry Boone, and Rodney Hicks will premiere tomorrow in The Rebel Theater Company's staged reading series of LITTLE ROCK written and directed by Rajendra Ramoon Maharaj. LITTLE ROCK presents untold stories of nine young teenagers otherwise known as the 'Little Rock Nine' and their struggles, strengths, hardships, and triumphs over the tragic events of the 1957 Little Rock crisis. The readings will be September 29th at 7pm, and September 30th at 12noon and 7pm at Union Square Theater.

Rebel Theater Company will present a series of staged readings of Little Rock written and directed by Rajendra Ramoon Maharaj. Little Rock presents untold stories of nine young teenagers otherwise known as ?Little Rock Nine? and their struggles, strengths, hardships, and triumphs over the tragic events of the 1957 Little Rock crisis. Amas Musical Theatre (Donna Trinkoff, Producing Artistic Director), will launch the Maria Torres Emerging Artist Project with a special Benefit Event on August 10 with stage and screen star Vanessa Williams as Honorary Chair. The event is directed by Amas Artist-in-Residence Maria Torres and will showcase company professionals from the upcoming Magic of Salsa Kingdom, an original dance theatre piece by Torres premiering in September at the Salsa Kingdom Festival in Southport, England. Also performing Torres's choreography will be some of her young students. The evening features music by Willie Torres NYC Salsa Project, and will take place at Taj Lounge, 48 West 21st Street, at 7pm.
