Funny girl, singular talent, American icon. Fanny Brice hit stardom in the 1920s and, almost a century later, still inspires the public imagination. On May 3, 4, and 5, Lyrics & Lyricists pays tribute to Fanny with Ziegfeld Girl: The Many Faces of Fanny Brice, a night of songs she put on the Broadway map, led by artistic director Ted Sperling, music director of the smash 2008 Broadway revival of South Pacific. Vocalists Capathia Jenkins, Leslie Kritzer, Faith Prince and Clarke Thorell sing classics like 'Second Hand Rose' and 'My Man'-as well as songs she inspired in Funny Girl. In the exclusive video below, Sperling and Kritzer give a special sneak peek of the show, including clips of a Brice classic- 'My Man'

Producers Merged Work Productions and Jack Thomas announced today the cast of the upcoming new musical, Piece of My Heart, based on the life and songs of legendary songwriter Bert Berns. The show begins previews at The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center on June 25, 2014, with an official opening night set for July 21, 2014. With the help of Charlie Rosen and his 17-piece jazz band, 54 Below featured the show's biggest hits like never before in 'The Wild Party Swings'- Andrew Lippa Meets Charlie Rosen's Broadway Big Band. The Broadway at Birdland concert series has announced that writer/performer/director Ben Rimalower will host The Lady's Got Potential, an evening of songs and conversation with some of the most exciting up and coming actresses working in musical theater today. The event will take place on Monday, April 7 at 7pm.

Transport Group, the Drama Desk and OBIE award-winning theatre company, has announced that its acclaimed production of Almost, Maine, written by John Cariani and directed by Jack Cummings III, will be taped for the Theatre on Film and Tape Archive of the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts on February 27. Almost, Maine opened February 4.

Paper Mill Playhouse continues its 75th Anniversary Season with another new musical The Other Josh Cohen. The Other Josh Cohen features a book, music and lyrics by David Rossmer and Steve Rosen. Ted Sperling (Striking 12, See What I Wanna See) will direct with musical staging by Andrew Palermo. Vadim Feichtner serves as Music Director. The Other Josh Cohen will feature Steve Rosen, David Rossmer, Hannah Elless, Vadim Feichtner, Cathryn Salamone, Ken Triwush and Kate Wetherhead. The Other Josh Cohen will play the Millburn, New Jersey theater through March 16. The show officially opened last night, Sunday, February 23, 2014, at 7:00pm.
