The National Theatre has announced 15 productions of new plays and fresh adaptations by leading writers.

Zoe Boyle, Laurie Davidson, David Morrissey, Kate O'Flynn, Lesley Sharp and Sam Swainsbury have been cast in the world premiere of the end of history…, written by Jack Thorne and directed by Royal Court Theatre Associate Director John Tiffany. With design by Grace Smart, lighting by Jack Knowles and sound by Tom Gibbons. the end of history… runs in the Jerwood Theatre Downstairs Thursday 27 June 2019 - Saturday 10 August 2019 with press night on Wednesday 3 July 2019, 7pm.

Entering the Jerwood Theatre Upstairs at the Royal Court, you're suddenly in a dark, damp forest. Trees are all are around and there's wood chipping, leaves and sticks all over the floor as you make your way to your seats, thanks to Naomi Dawson's innovative and atmospheric design.

Finn Bennett, Tom Mothersdale and Lesley Sharp have been cast in The Woods, written by Robert Alan Evans and directed by Royal Court Associate Director Lucy Morrison. Continuing the Lyric Hammersmith's commitment to reducing its impact on the environment, the Lyric and HammersmithLondon have teamed up to install three beehives on the roof of the venue - which have become the home of approximately 180,000 Buckfast Bees.

The Lyric Hammersmith today announces plans to refurbish the theatre's 550 seat Victorian auditorium, which has not been fully refurbished since 1979, and to modernise its Studio theatre.
