Actors Theatre of Louisville Sets 2016-17 Season

Today, in the midst of preparations and rehearsals for one of the nation's most influential festivals of new work, the 40th Humana Festival of New American Plays, Artistic Director Les Waters proudly announces Actors Theatre of Louisville's 2016-2017 Season. The lineup features an exhilarating range of stories, including a madcap comic romp, a musical journey based on the life and songs of Billie Holiday, one of Shakespeare's best-known tragedies, a charming look at the revelations in a small-town acting class, and a powerful drama set during the Detroit riots of 1967 - as well as the return of the two most popular and beloved holiday shows in the region.

Managing Director Jennifer Bielstein Departs Actors Theatre of Louisville for Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis

Les Waters, Artistic Director of Actors Theatre of Louisville, and Beth Davis, President of the Board of Directors, announced today that Jennifer Bielstein is departing after serving as Managing Director of Actors Theatre of Louisville for the past ten seasons. Bielstein has been named Managing Director of the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, Minnesota, effective April 2016.

BWW Review: Highly Anticipated Center Theatre Group's & Playwrights Horizons' THE CHRISTIANS Comes In Tact from New York to the Taper Stage

Playwrights Horizons in association with The Actors Theatre of Louisville presented Lucas Hnath's new play The Christians this past fall in New York to great acclaim. The controversial  play with contradictory arguments about God and heaven/hell has now docked at the Mark Taper Forum through January 10, 2016. Judging by the opening night audience - you could hear a pin drop - The Christians with its crisp dialogue,  stellar cast and taut direction is a surefire winner.

Actors Theatre of Louisville Sets Cast of Amy Herzog's 4000 MILES

Artistic Director Les Waters and Managing Director Jennifer Bielstein are thrilled to announce the cast of 4000 Miles by Amy Herzog. Under the direction of Mike Donahue, the production will feature Michael Goldsmith (Leo Joseph-Connell), Dee Maaske (Vera Joseph), Justine Salata (Bec) and Kristin Villanueva (Amanda). 4000 Miles will preview January 5 and 6, open on January 7 and run through January 31 in the Bingham Theatre as part of the Brown-Forman Series. Crowded Fire Theater Unveils 2016 Season

Crowded Fire Theater (CFT) Crowded Fire's newly appointed Artistic Director Mina Morita unveiled the 2016 mainstage season lineup of three contemporary plays that continue to uphold the company's long tradition of producing boundary - pushing, thought-provoking theater. At a season-announcement party on Saturday, November 14th Morita addressed Crowded Fire donors, patrons, and artists saying "At Crowded Fire, we are unafraid of tackling big issues. We commit ourselves to true experimentation of form and content to question, disrupt, or complicate comfortable notions of cultural hierarchy."
