Three young musicians have won the annual Philadelphia Orchestra Albert M. Greenfield Student Competition and will appear as soloists with the Orchestra during the 2010-11 season. Final judging was held in Verizon Hall at The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts on Monday, March 1, 2010.

Miller's one-act show gives us a fresh insight into why this giant of jurisprudence inspired generations, and left such an indelible mark on the nation.

The piece-with its dissonant sounds and shocking themes of human sacrifice-stunned audiences, sending them into frenzied riots. Within a decade this groundbreaking work would be heard in America in its U.S. premiere by The Philadelphia Orchestra under Leopold Stokowski.
Reid Farrington returns to Performance Space 122 with Gin & 'It.' His principle source is Alfred Hitchcock's film Rope, a film based the Leopold and Loeb murder. As he did with THE PASSION PROJECT, Farrington collaborates with film historians and archivists to bring a classic film to life on stage with his own boundary-pushing melding of video and live drama.
Five local choreographers will each create a new dance work for Diversionary Theatre's special event, Dance/Theatre, with four performances, April 22-25, 2010. The project was conceived by Peter G. Kalivas of The PGK Project in conjunction with Diversionary's Executive & Artistic Director Dan Kirsch. This is the second year of what will become an annual event. Dance/Theatre merges theatre and dance audiences while presenting universal stories through dance inspired by productions previously staged by Diversionary. 'We are very excited about this collaboration,' said Kirsch. 'Diversionary has a long history of creating new work, and this project is a great way to connect to the dance community.'

The Hypocrites, in association with Chicago DCA Theater, present the Broadway classic Cabaret. The production, directed by Matt Hawkins, comes to Chicago DCA Theater's Storefront Theater at 66 E. Thursday, April 15, 2010 is the date for the third presentation of the annual Greenfield Prize, a $30,000 commission for a new work of art in a designated category. This year's award goes to Sanford Biggers, the first visual artist to receive the Greenfield Prize since its inception in 2008.

The evening will feature Marvin Hamlisch speaking about his life and music with interviewer/MC Nancy Shear. Jacqui Dankworth will perform her interpretations of Hamlisch's music, and the music of Golem will begin and end the evening.
The Philadelphia Orchestra needs your help feeding our hungry neighbors in the Delaware Valley! As part of the National Orchestras Feeding America Food Drive 2010, the Orchestra will be collecting non-perishable canned goods at the Kimmel Center one hour prior to the Orchestra's concerts on March 4-6, 11-13, and 16. All food donations collected at these performances will be generously matched by the Campbell Soup Company. All food will be donated to Philabundance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting hunger and malnutrition in the Delaware Valley. As a special thank you for participating in the 2010 Food Drive, all patrons who donate food will be entered to win a subscription to the Orchestra's 2010-11 Beyond the Score series.

Among other topics, Roth and Shreiber discussed the star's lauded turn in A View From the Bridge, at the 92nd Street Y.
92nd Street Y and Jujamcyn Theaters will present a series of conversations entitled 'Broadway Talks,' featuring some of today's biggest Broadway stars, throughout the spring. The talks will be held as one-on-one conversations with Jujamcyn President, Jordan Roth, and will take place on four separate occasions from March to May. Currently scheduled for talks are Liev Schrieber, Nathan Lane, Laura Linney, and Sean Hayes.
