A worse-for-wear Dr. John walked slowly to the piano with the help of two canes. He was no quicker while leaving the stage at the end of the set. But for over an hour in between, he and his sextet kept up an infectious funky beat, and his voice and piano playing erased half a century of his 76 years. Listeners felt an irresistible urge to tap feet, sway rhythmically, and sometimes laugh at the lyrics of songs such as 'How Come My Dog Don't Bark (When You Come 'Round)?' sung in Dr. John's inimitable raspy growl. Contrary to the title of his biggest hit, it was 'Right Place Right Time.'

Josiah Theatre Works celebrates its 4th Anniversary with the upcoming world premiere of SANGIN' THE TEARS AWAY, inspired by superstar Natalie Cole. Previews begin July 22 at 2 p.m. with the grand opening set for that same night at 8:30 p.m., following a red carpet honors and reception. But before the opening, Josiah Theatre works is offering a free sneak preview of the show today, June 9 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Operation Hope Center (Harlem Branch), located at 2511 W. 13th St, NYC. (corner of Fredrick Douglass Blvd and 134th).

Aurora Theater Hosts Book Signing W/ 3 Local Authors 3/31

On March 31 at 7:00pm, Aurora Theatre will host a book signing by three authors who have written three very different books. All are exceptional writers and most importantly, all the authors are local. The event was originally conceived by one of Gwinnett's most prominent citizens and one of the authors. Elliott Brack has put together the comprehensive resource on local history called Gwinnett A Little Above Atlanta. The other homegrown talents are Tom Stratton who's Sea Birds, When Sea Birds Fly To Land is a beautifully crafted story set in the Virgin Islands, and David Leon Brown is a modern-day Nostradamus.
