Harlem Stage Artist Circle Member, MacArthur Fellow and award winning composer and pianist, Vijay Iyer and pioneering composer and trumpeter, Doris Duke Performing Artist Award winner, and Pulitzer finalist Wadada Leo Smith join forces once again to present an intimate live performance based around their highly acclaimed duo album A Cosmic Rhythm With Each Stroke.

On March 18, 2016, The Metropolitan Museum of Art invites the public to celebrate the opening of The Met Breuer with three days of special programs inaugurating its new space dedicated to modern and contemporary art.
Carnegie Hall presents the pioneering Kronos Quartet in a program of new works, including two world premieres, on Saturday, April 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Zankel Hall. Aleksandra Vrebalov's open-form piece, My Desert, My Rose, and Yotam Haber's South Africa-inspired break_break_break will receive their world premieres. The program also includes New York premieres of works by Nicole Lizee, N. Rajam, Wu Man, Karin Rehnqvist, Fode Lassana Diabate, and Albert Behar. A new arrangement by Jacob Garchik of 'Baba O'Reilly,' Pete Townshend's classic song for The Who, is also featured. Leading with live arts by visionary artists, the 2015-16 season has presented unexpected and adventurous offerings in new spaces, and this spring, that line of singular programming will continue with newly added events.
Clinton Hill cultural hub and OBIE award-winner JACK launches its winter/spring 2016 season with an a cappella opera set in Zimbabwe by composer Tanyaradzwa Tawengwa, a weekend of curated works by Modesto "Flako" Jimenez, the premiere of the dirty and bracing play Tom & Eliza, by Celine Song, the English-language premiere of Argentinian playwright Rafael Spregelburd's SPAM, The Geneva Project by Jennifer Harrison Newman, Antonio Ramos' Thirsty Mind, love and starvation sitting in a lonely tree and an exploration in minimalist/pop art performance by the No Face Performance Group. JACK also engineers the return of Walter Dundervill's ARENA (which had two sold-out runs at JACK in 2014 and 2015).

Composer Paola Prestini, the Creative and Executive Director of National Sawdust (NS), today announced programming for the non-profit's inaugural fall season in its new home-a $16 million, 13,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art chamber hall in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The performance and recording venue, designed by Brooklyn-based architecture firm Bureau V in the shell of century-old former sawdust factory, will provide composers and musicians a setting in which they can flourish, and a place where they are given commissioning support, mentoring and other critical resources essential to create, and then share, their work. For audiences-serious fans and casual listeners alike-the venue will be a place to discover genre-spanning music at accessible ticket prices.
