Burning Coal Theatre Company of Raleigh, NC announces its 2015/2016 season of plays. In its 19th season, the theatre, housed in the historic Murphy School auditorium at 224 Polk Street, will host the Brooklyn based Only Child Aerial Theatre's Production of Asylum created by Nicki Miller and Kendall Rileigh and directed by Nicki Miller (October 15 - November 1, 2015), The Wiz by William F Brown, Charles Smalls and Luther Vandross, directed by Randolph Curtis Rand (December 3 - December 20, 2015), The US premier of Blue Sky by Clare Bayley, directed by Gus Heagerty and co-produced by CAM/Raleigh (January 28 - February 14, 2016 at CAM/Raleigh), and the American premier of Spoonface Steinberg by Lee Hall, the writer of Billy Elliot, directed by Jerome Davis (April 7 - April 24, 2016).

Since the 2014-15 Season at North Carolina Theatre just wrapped up, I decided to give you guys my top picks for what were some of the best productions I saw this past season. I've seen many quality productions within the past year, but these are my top 3.
Nat Sweeney, 12 years old from Birmingham, will make his West End stage debut this evening (3 July 2015) when he becomes the forty-first boy to play the title role in the iconic British musical Billy Elliot the Musical at the Victoria Palace Theatre. Now in its eleventh year in the West End, the show recently extended booking at the Victoria Palace Theatre until 17 December 2016. In addition, the first UK and Ireland tour of Billy Elliot the Musical begins in February 2016 with tickets now on sale for performances at the Theatre Royal Plymouth.
As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Shakespeare in Love, staged to great acclaim in the West End, will have its North American premiere as a part of the 2016 season at the Stratford Festival, directed by Declan Donnellan. Based on the screenplay by Marc Norman and Tom Stoppard, the play is adapted for the stage by Lee Hall and will be presented by special arrangement with Disney Theatrical Group and Sonia Friedman Productions.

Ruthie Henshall and Deka Walmsley today confirm they are to continue as Mrs Wilkinson and Dad respectively in the West End cast for Billy Elliot the Musical at the Victoria Palace Theatre. Also continuing in their role are Chris Grahamson as Tony, Gillian Elisa as Grandma, Howard Crossley as George and Claudia Bradley Dead Mum. Phil Snowdon, in his new role, will play Mr Braithwaite and James Butcher joins the cast as Older Billy. A new musical play, Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour, adapted by Billy Elliot author Lee Hall from Alan Warner's 'The Sopranos,' will premiere August 18 at the Edinburgh Traverse Theatre. Vicky Featherstone will direct the co-production between the National Theatre of Scotland and Live Theatre. The show will feature music by Handel, Bach and ELO! with musical supervion Martin Lowe (Once).
Tonight, 12 May 2015, the multi award-winning smash hit Billy Elliot the Musical celebrates ten years in the West End. The musical received its world premiere at the Victoria Palace Theatre in March 2005 with the gala opening night taking place exactly 10 years ago today. To coincide with the 10th birthday celebrations, Billy Elliot the Musical today announces an extension to the West End run, releasing over 600,000 tickets for sale, taking booking through to 17 December 2016. In addition, the first UK and Ireland tour of Billy Elliot the Musical is also announced today, opening at the Theatre Royal Plymouth in February 2016. The Daily Mail reports that Billy Elliot could dance onto the big screen soon -- ish. The musical's producer Eric Fellner, who also runs Working Title Films, told the Mail, 'We just need to act on it.'
