FOX has issued a third season order for its drama series 'Star,' a network spokesperson confirmed this morning.

“Star” has been renewed for a third season at Fox. The musical drama centered on a girl group trio trying will be returning for the 2018-19 television season.

On the Season Four premiere, Lucious makes his first public appearance after the explosion in Las Vegas, while all members of the Lyon family have their own interests in Lucious regaining his physical and mental faculties. Academy Award- and Golden Globe-winning actor, director and producer Forest Whitaker (“The Last King of Scotland,” “Arrival,” “Lee Daniels' The Butler”) will guest-star in a multi-episode arc on EMPIRE, beginning this fall on FOX. Whitaker will play “Uncle Eddie,” a charismatic music icon and bonafide hitmaker, who gave an unknown Lucious (Terrence Howard) his first radio airplay. Decades later, Eddie steps up for Lucious at a critical moment during his rehabilitation, and a grateful Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) invites him to produce a song in celebration of Empire Entertainment's 20th anniversary.

PBS and OZY Media announced today that the third primetime television show from OZY Media, BREAKING BIG, will premiere Friday, June 15, 2018, 8:30-9:00 p.m. ET on PBS stations nationwide. BREAKING BIG, a 12-episode documentary series, explores the unexpected journey to success of some of the world's most influential artists, innovators, political leaders, athletes, authors and entrepreneurs.

Hugh Jackman and Sonia Friedman Make Time's List of 100 Most Influential People

TIME has just revealed the 2018 TIME 100, its annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. The issue has six worldwide covers, each highlighting a member of the TIME 100: Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Kidman, Roger Federer, Tarana Burke, Satya Nadella, and Tiffany Haddish. Also included in this year's list are stage and screen star Hugh Jackman and Broadway/West End producer Sonia Friedman.

The new season of STAR kicks off Wednesday, September 27 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), the girls - with Carlotta as their manager - continue to face roadblocks, despite their victory at Atlanta NextFest. Academy Award and Golden Globe nominee Lee Daniels - creator and executive producer of broadcast's No. 1 series, EMPIRE - partners with Tom Donaghy ('The Whole Truth') to pull back the curtain on music's gritty and dark reality in STAR. Pamela Oas Williams also serves as executive producer. Karin Gist is an executive producer and serves as showrunner of the series. Featuring a soundtrack of original music and stunning music performances, STAR is an emotionally powerful drama that follows three talented singers - running from their pasts and desperate for a new start - with ambitions of stardom, as they navigate the cut-throat music business. But reality soon dawns on the girls' fantasies, and they start to learn that ambition often comes at a cost.

Promoting two top execs from within its programming ranks, NBC today named Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta Co-Presidents, Scripted Programming, NBC Entertainment.  The seasoned execs, who together have helped cement NBC's status as the No. 1 network in their respective roles as Executive Vice Presidents of Drama and Comedy, will report directly to NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt.
