Tickets Now On Sale for Howard County Arts Council's Celebration of the Arts

Tickets are available for Howard County's signature event, Celebration of the Arts in Howard County, on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Peter and Elizabeth Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center, Howard Community College, Columbia, MD. Tickets can be purchased via the Celebration page of the Howard County Arts Council (HCAC) website, www.hocoarts.org; by phone at 410-313-ARTS (2787); or at the HCAC office, 8510 High Ridge Road, Ellicott City, MD 21043. Any remaining tickets will be available at the box office on the day of the event.

Dallas Theater Center to Present THE ODD COUPLE, 3/15-4/14

Dallas Theater Center announced today the upcoming production of Neil Simon's classic American comedy, The Odd Couple, directed by DTC Artistic Director Kevin Moriarty. When two men with struggling relationships, neat and particular Felix Ungar and disheveled and rough-edged Oscar Madison, decide to live together, the results are funny and poignant. The Odd Couple opens with previews on Friday, March 15 and runs through Sunday, April 14 at the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre in the AT&T Performing Arts Center.

Jenny Powers, Will Swenson & More Join Encores! IT'S A BIRD... IT'S A PLANE... IT'S SUPERMAN

Superman finds his Lois Lane! Joining Edward Watts (Superman) in the New York City Center Encores! production of It's a Bird…It's a Plane…It's Superman will be Jenny Powers as Lois Lane and David Pittu as the evil Dr. Sedgwick, along with Erich Bergen, Alli Mauzey, James Saito and Will Swenson. Superman will play at City Center for seven performances, March 20 - 24, and will be directed by John Rando with choreography by Joshua Bergasse and music direction by Rob Berman.

Olney Theatre Center Celebrates 75th Anniversary with Diamond Gala, 3/2

On March 2, 2013, Olney Theatre Center will host the Diamond Gala, a black-tie fundraising event celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Olney Theatre Center. The event will include a cocktail hour, a seated dinner, live musical performances from Olney favorites George Dvorsky (Annie, The Sound of Music), Jessica Lauren Ball (1776, Grease, The Sound of Music, Cinderella), Donna Migliaccio (The Sound of Music, Cinderella), Caitlin Deerin (Annie), Parker Drown (Grease, Cinderella, Spring Awakening), MaryLee Adams (Spring Awakening) and Bobby Smith (Annie, The Sound of Music, Little Shop of Horrors), as well as silent and live auctions. Funds raised from the event will support Olney's artistic and educational programming which reaches over 100,000 audience members a year in Maryland and nationwide.

BYE, BYE BIRDIE, THE FOREIGNER and More Revealed at Newnan Theatre's 2013-14 Season Preview

On February 9, Newnan Theatre Company presented its 2013 Gala, NTC's celebration of its 2013/2014 season opening. Season ticket holders and guests were treated to drinks, hors d'oeuvres and desserts. They participated in a silent auction of an intriguing array of items, profits to benefit the theatre, and they were given an opportunity to renew or purchase season memberships at discount prices.

RED Plays Dallas Theater Center, Now thru March 24

Dallas Theater Center welcomes North Texans into the studio of artist Mark Rothko in the Texas premiere of Tony Award-winning Red, directed by DTC associate artistic director Joel Ferrell. This production turns the 9th floor of the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre into Rothko's studio and gives audience members an intimate look at the brilliant and volatile artist as he undertakes a new commission. This show also marks the first production-specific collaboration between DTC and the Dallas Museum of Art, which will provide patrons and visitors the opportunity to learn about the world of Rothko by seeing the play at DTC, viewing original works of art by Rothko and his contemporaries at the DMA and engaging in special events about the work with both organizations. Red opens with preview performances tonight, February 7 and runs through Sunday, March 24 and is the first show ever to be performed on the 9th floor of the Wyly Theatre.

The Howard County Arts Council, in its 32nd year of service to the public of Howard County, presents the 16th Annual Celebration of the Arts in Howard County on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Peter and Elizabeth Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center, Howard Community College (HCC), Columbia, MD. Dr. Kathleen Hetherington, President of HCC, will serve as Honorary Chair. Richard W. Story, Senior Vice President for Marketing, JPB Enterprises, Inc. will emcee the event.

King Lear opens for previews tonight, January 18 and runs through Sunday, February 18.

Masterworks Broadway Will Reissue BYE BYE BIRDIE Motion Picture Soundtrack

Masterworks Broadway will release a newly remastered version of Bye Bye Birdie - The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, in conjunction with the film's 50th anniversary. Bye Bye Birdie opens a new chapter in the label's celebrated campaign to preserve the music of Broadway by entering the arena of film musical soundtracks. This new reissue of Bye Bye Birdie will include three bonus tracks and will be available on CD and via digital download January 8, 2013.

Dallas Theater Center Partners with North Texas Food Bank for Fifth Consecutive Year

Dallas Theater Center and the North Texas Food Bank are teaming up for the fifth consecutive year to increase awareness about hunger in North Texas and to provide assistance to those in need. This partnership has become tradition for the two organizations, taking place during DTC's annual production of A Christmas Carol. So far, DTC patrons have donated over $175,000 to NTFB.
