Steppenwolf Theatre Company announced today the extension of The Herd, the debut play of Olivier Award-winning actor Rory Kinnear currently playing to critical acclaim in its U.S. premiere production in Steppenwolf's Downstairs Theatre. In a four-star review, the Chicago Tribune raves, 'A family drama that sticks with you...this is Steppenwolf acting at its best' and The New York Times says, 'a buoyantly entertaining play [that] breathes with real, complicated life.' The Writers Guild of America, West will honor late screenwriter-director-actor-producer Harold Ramis with its Laurel Award for Screenwriting Achievement at the Writers Guild Awards ceremony on Saturday, February 14. Erica Mann Ramis and family will accept the award on his behalf.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gary Whitta, who was tapped to pen the script for the film, to be directed by GODZILLA's Gareth Edwards. Whitta completed the spinoff's first draft, and will now move on to the impending film adaptation of STARLIGHT. A new writer is expected to complete the project.
