Three esteemed Harlem cultural organizations - the Apollo Theater, Harlem Stage and Jazzmobile - have joined forces to present the first Harlem Jazz Shrines Festival May 9-15, 2011.

Now gracing the cover of the latest Billboard Magazine, Beyonce reveals that her upcoming ablum, entitled 4, is largely inspired by the late Fela Kuti - subject of last season's Broadway hit Fela! produced by her husband Jay-Z. The album is set for release next month.

Join us as emerging talents remix, revisit and reconstruct classic albums and songs from the soul movement of the 90s and 00s. Led by musical director and arranger Marc Cary and backed by a powerhouse band, contemporary soulsters: ArinMaya, The Crowd, TreZure Empire, Len ‘Tuac' Xiang and winners form Harlem Stage's 'Got Soul' competition will take us on a musical journey that will celebrate the poignancy of the era and artists like D'Angelo, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Musiq, Bilal, Lauryn Hill, and more, while offering an exciting glimpse of the future.

'It can't be done, man!' That's what Dave Hahn, mastermind behind Dub Is A Weapon, heard when he first floated the idea of a live dub group, as he and his mates listened to some prime 1960s King Tubby cuts in the band van. 'Everyone seemed to think you could only do dub in the studio,' Hahn recalls.
