A. D. Players Mainstage Theater's THE 39 STEPS Opens Tonight

By:

A. D. Players announces that The 39 Steps will open tonight, September 10th and run through October 5, 2014 on their Grace Theater stage, kicking off the company's 2014-2015 season. Winner of the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Comedy, two Drama Desk Awards, two Tony Awards of 2008 and nominated for four others including Best Comedy. Alfred Hitchcock's 1935 adventure film, turned comedy, roars down the tracks and onto our stage as the first offering of an award-winning Mainstage season just for you. Suspense, romantic entanglements and laughs fill this derailed spy story that insures you a "Good Evening" from Hitch himself.

"Alfred Hitchcock is quoted, 'What is drama but life with the dull bits cut out.' As our company of actors and technicians come together to celebrate this very funny play, I promise we have cut out the dull bits. Live action intercut with dancing images on the screen will provide dangerous levels of risk for the actors and high levels of laughs and satisfaction for our audiences." - Ken Bailey, Director

The cast of The 39 Steps includes A. D. Players' resident actors Kevin Dean, Alexis German, and Craig Griffin and guest actor Jeff McMorrough.

The production team features scenic design by Mark A. Lewis, lighting design by Andrew Vance, properties design by Trisha Wise, costume design by Patty Tuel Bailey, and sound design by Bradley Winkler. Directed by Ken Bailey and assistant directed by K. Michelle Ritter.
