Chicago Shakespeare Theater announces today the extension of A Midsummer Night's Dream, now playing in the Courtyard Theater through February 3, 2019. Staged by internationally acclaimed director Joe Dowling, Shakespeare's beloved comedy is infused with raucous humor, dazzling dance numbers, and eclectic musical score blending rock, jazz, blues, rock, and '50s doo-wop.

Jeanne Lauren Smith and Karen Eleanor Wight are set for a reading of LEAVE PHILADELPHIA, NEVER, written by Michael Wells-Oakes. The family drama will be directed by Cynthia Granville and presented by the 29th Street Playwrights Collective New Work Series on Monday October 1, at the Bernie Wohl Center, 647 Columbus Ave, at 7:30pm.

Town Theatre opens its centennial season with the classic production West Side Story - one of the most powerful love stories of all time. Beautiful melodies like 'Tonight,' 'Maria' and 'Somewhere' are juxtaposed with fierce and fiery dancing in 'America' and The Dance at the Gym. Town's production coincides with the 100th birthday of Jerome Robbins, director/choreographer of the original Broadway production of the show.

The production stars Blue Bloods series regular, Abigail Hawk. The limited engagement runs September 8 - 23.

The CHICAGO ONE-MINUTE PLAY FESTIVAL (#1MPF) returns for its ninth year! The marathon evening of one-minute plays by 70 of Chicago's established and emerging playwrights and directors plays two nights only, Tuesday, June 26 and Wednesday, June 27 at 8 pm at The Den Theatre, 1331 N. Newnan Theatre Company is proud to announce the opening of It's A Wonderful Life, adapted by James Rodgers from the movie directed by Frank Capra. The show opens on November 30 and runs through December 10. This classic story deals with George Bailey, a man who feels like he has given up every dream he had during his youth in order to do what was expected of him, only to find himself feeling unrewarded in every way. In a fit of despair, he wishes that he had never been born. His wish is heard by Clarence, an angel, second class from above who decides to let George see what life would be like for all those whose life he has touched.
