Gotham Arts Exchange presents the Emerging Artist Showcase, a shared evening of dance works by emerging choreographers John-Mark Owen, Jessica Gaynor and Adam Barruch (with guest performer Margie Gillis) on Wednesday, January 5 and Thursday, January 6 at 7:30pm at Dance Theater Workshop, 219 West 19th Street, NYC.
The Richmond Ballet and Richmond CenterStage Foundation are the co-sponsor of 'The Glass Slipper Ceiling' as part of the statewide arts event, MINDS WIDE OPEN: Virginia Celebrates Women in the Arts. The seminar will be held April 28, 2010, at Richmond CenterStage and focuses on the rarity of female artistic directors at major ballet companies and how the traditionally male-dominated field may be changing.
The Joffrey Ballet under the direction of Ashley C. Wheater, Artistic Director, presents 'Cinderella'. Choreography by Sir Frederick Ashton. Music by Serge Prokofiev. 'Cinderella' will be performed from January 28 to 31, 2010 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
Performances of TRANSMOTION - sponsored by the Performing Arts Department (PAD) in Arts & Sciences - will feature more than three dozen student dancers, selected by audition, in seven original works by faculty and guest choreographers. Pieces range from ballet and contemporary dance to works drawing on Chinese and Native American traditions.
