Jubilee Theatre's Artistic Director, Tre Garrett, has announced the upcoming 2011-2012 Season.
The Crossroads Theatre Company's current season will continue with Lorraine Hansberry's classic A RAISIN IN THE SUN from April 14-May 1.
The Crossroads Theatre Company's current season will continue with TRAIN TO 2010, opening on October 13 and running through October 24.
A unique album featuring great poems recited by great voices-- from Jim Broadbent, Helena Bonham Carter, Ruby Dee, and Amber Rose Johnson to James Earl Jones , Garrison Keillor, Terence Stamp and Meryl Streep--and set to classical music arrives just in time for April's National Poetry Month. Words For You (Mighty Village/Universal/UMe), released April 12, 2011, brings together the emotional words of the likes of Shakespeare, Walt Whitman, Edgar Allen Poe and Maya Angelou with the powerful music of classical giants such as Chopin, Debussy, Grieg and Mahler as well as others.
On February 7, 2011, at 7pm, at GALA Hispanic Theatre (3333 14th St. NW), Young Playwrights' Theater (YPT) will premiere Woodlawn, a new play created collaboratively with residents and organizations throughout Ward 7 in Washington, DC. This performance will be a free community event, open to the public.
The new play THE LUCK OF THE IRISH by Huntington Playwriting Fellow Kirsten Greenidge Bossa Nova will be read Thursday, February 3 at 7pm as part of the Huntington Theatre Company's Breaking Ground reading series. Obie Award winner Melia Bensussen Circle Mirror Transformation directs. The reading, located at the Huntington Rehearsal Hall, is free and open to the public, though reservations are required as seating is limited.
