AMAS Presents NELLIE BEEZER'S MELTING POT FOLLIES OF 1922 10/12

Amas Musical Theatre (Donna Trinkoff/Producing Artistic Director) will present free staged readings of "Nellie Beezer's Melting Pot Follies of 1922", a new musical written by Phillip George (co-creator of SHOUT! The Mod Musical and long-time co-director of Forbidden Broadway) and Kathy Griffith, with additional material by Gerard Alessandrini (Forbidden Broadway) and David Caldwell.

Amas Musical Theatre will present free staged readings of NELLIE BEEZER'S MELTING POT FOLLIES OF 1922, a new musical written by Phillip George and Kathy Griffith, with additional material by Gerard Alessandrini and David Caldwell. The readings, also directed by Phillip George, will take place on Monday, October 11th at 6:00pm, and Tuesday, October 12th at 3:00pm and 7:00pm, at Ripley-Grier Studios, 520 Eighth Avenue (10th Floor).

TRAV'LIN Plays NYMF At The TBG Theatre 10/11-10/17

The New York Musical Theatre Festival is pleased to announce the world premiere production of TRAV?LIN by Gary Holmes and Allan Shapiro, with musical direction by John Dipinto and choreographed and directed by Paul Stancato. TRAV'LIN will play a limited engagement at TBG Theatre, (312 West 36th Street, NY, NY 10018). Performances begin Monday, October 11 and continue through Sunday, October 17.

Philly Urban Theater Festival Runs 9/20-10/10

August Wilson, Lorraine Hansberry, Langston Hughes. These were the names that easily rolled off of the tongue when you thought of the African-American playwright. However, now in the Tyler Perry generation, you struggle to find African-americans who have knowledge of those playwrights let alone more recent ones such as Lynn Nottage and Anna Deavere- Smith. Fortunately, the times are a-changing.

DP Productions will hold open auditions for actors, dancers, and singers ages 4 to 21 on Thursday, October 7 at 6 p.m. for its production of Black Nativity. Auditioners should be prepared to perform a short side, song or choreographed dance routine. No prior acting experience necessary.

FINIAN'S RAINBOW's James Stovall Dies Sept. 26

Broadway and musical theater veteran, James Stovall died yesterday, September 26 confirms his talent agency, Abrams Artists & Associates. Cause of death and age are unavailable at this time, but it has been reported that Stovall suffered from heart problems.

AADT Celebrates 50 years of REVELATIONS, 12/1-1/2

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will begin a celebration of 50 years of Alvin Ailey's Revelations, an American classic called a must-see for all people, with special performances, singular events and guest appearances at New York City Center from December 1, 2010 - January 2, 2010. Other related initiatives throughout the year will offer new perspectives on this masterpiece that has been seen by more people around the world than any other modern dance work, and that is a tribute to the resolve and determination of a people and the human spirit.
