Using Richard Brautigan's novella In Watermelon Sugar as a guide and the lens through which material is developed, director/choreographer Steven Reker collaborates with Ryan Seaton, Matt Evans, and Eliot Krimsky to form the experimental noise rock band Open House.
New York Live Arts presents Eugene Lang College's Fall Performance, December 12 & 13 at 7:30pm. Part of The New School for Liberal Arts, the dance program at Lang has been referred to as “home to one of the more progressive collegiate dance departments in New York” (The New York Times). These fall performances feature new works by Reggie Wilson and Jeanine Durning. In addition, choreographers in the dance program will interface their semester-long choreographic research practice with a New York Live Arts showcase. (All works will be performed by students of the Eugene Lang College dance program.)

The discussion, moderated by former Twyla Tharp principal and present Barnard Senior Associate of Dance, Katie Glasner, takes place at 7PM on Monday, October 21 at the Diana Event Oval on the Barnard campus.
New York Live Arts today announced the artists of the 2013-2014 Studio Series, Live Arts' creative residency program which serves as a research laboratory for physical explorations and new movement investigations. The 2013-2014 Studio Series artists include (in chronological order): Elena Demyanenko and Dai Jian, Cynthia Hopkins (in partnership with the Watermill Center), Sam Kim, Mariana Valencia, Saul Ulerio, Jon Kinzel, Cori Olinghouse, Rashaun Mitchell and Jimena Paz.
Congratulations to the 2013-2014 Gibney Dance Center (GDC) DiP Resident Artists: (pictured above clockwise from left) Dean Moss, Lance Gries,RoseAnne Spradlin, and Jon Kinzel. Each artist will receive three weeks of continuous rehearsal space, access to an adjacent production office, and a menu of staff support and resource options as part of the DiP program for mid-career, New York City-based dance artists.

The Oscar-winning and Tony-nominated actress Estelle Parsons was honored at La Mama's annual benefit fundraiser, along with longtime La MaMa board member Peter Swords on February 27, 2013 at the Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 E. 4 St.). Ms. Parsons, who appeared last fall at La MaMa in Marco Calvani's play THINGS OF THIS WORLD directed by Neil LaBute, and Mr. Swords, who served as a member of the La MaMa Board for 25 years, wascelebrated at the event by personal and video tributes from playwrights Warren Leight and Mr. LaBute.

The Princess Grace Foundation-USA (PGF-USA) has just announced that the 30(th) Anniversary Princess Grace Awards Gala will be held on Monday, October 22, 2012 at Cipriani 42(nd) Street in New York City. The Awards ceremony will include the presentation of 25 awards to emerging artists in theater, dance and film as well as Princess Grace Statue Awards to be presented to Patrick Page and Darron L West. A special honor will be presented to one of the founding Trustees, Lynn Wyatt, for her dedicated service and help in establishing the Foundation in 1982. The 30(th) Anniversary Princess Grace Awards Gala will take place in the presence of TSH The Prince and The Princess of Monaco. Legendary newswoman Paula Zahn will act as Mistress of Ceremonies for the evening. The evening will be chaired by Renee Fleming and Tim Jessell and H.R.H. Princess Firyal of Jordan. Presenting Sponsor for the Gala is Hermes; Crown Sponsor is Lily Safra. A unique live auction will feature a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Monaco for the Grand Prix and opportunities to name a Princess Grace Award.
