On Thursday afternoon, 106.7 Lite FM continued its annual lunchtime theatre summer series, '106.7 Lite FM's Broadway in Bryant Park.' The 2013 program presents the best of Broadway, FREE to the public, on six consecutive Thursdays on the Bryant Park Stage. Hosted by Lite FM's on-air personalities, the 13th annual presentation of open-air, On- and Off- Broadway lunch hour performances will run through August 15. The longest-running show in Broadway history, Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera, directed by Harold Prince and produced byCameron Mackintosh and The Really Useful Theatre Company, Inc., welcomed West End star and Platinum-selling Swedish recording star Peter Joback to the New York cast last night, May 1. Mr. Joback will assume the title role for a limited engagement from today, April 29 through Saturday, August 24, 2012.

Douglas Carpenter, baritone, of New York, won the $15,000 First Prize in the finals of the 15th annual Lotte Lenya Competition, held on April 13, 2013, at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y. Maren Weinberger, soprano, of New York, received the Second Prize of $10,000, and two Third Prizes of $7,500 each were awarded to Alison Arnopp, soprano, of County Cork, Ireland, and Lauren Roesner, soprano, of Cincinnati. Founded in 1998 to celebrate the centenary of Lenya's birth, the Lotte Lenya Competition is an international theater singing contest that recognizes talented young singer/actors, ages 19-32, who are dramatically and musically convincing in a wide range of repertoire.

Yesterday, April 3, Tony's di Napoli Restaurant Times Square presented the addition of a new portrait to their Broadway Wall of Fame, honoring the stars and cast of the legendary Broadway musical, 'Phantom of the Opera' starring Hugh Panaro and Samantha Hill. Twelve exceptionally talented young singer-actors, with previous stage experience ranging from roles on Broadway to the Metropolitan Opera House, have been named finalists in the 2013 Lotte Lenya Competition. They will compete for top prizes of $15,000, $10,000 and $7,500 on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. Acclaimed soprano and 2010 Opera News Award winner Patricia Racette, British opera and musical theater conductor James Holmes, and Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization President and American Theater Wing Vice-Chairman Theodore S. Chapin will serve as judges.

Samantha Hill takes over the role of Christine Daae in Broadway's The Phantom of the Opera, replacing Sierra Boggess. Hill joins Hugh Panaro in the title role with Kyle Barisich as Raoul, Jim Weitzer (Monsieur Andre), Tim Jerome (Monsieur Firmin), Michele McConnell (Carlotta), Ellen Harvey (Madame Giry), Christian Šebek (Piangi) and Kara Klein (Meg Giry).
