Upcoming MTI Shows - 2/20 for Tokyo

Seattle Shakespeare Company is currently presenting their first ever foray into musical theater with "The Threepenny Opera". A show that seasoned musical theater companies would have difficulty with; this typically Shakespearean company in their 20th year handles it with vision, humor and heart.

Broadway leading lady Kelli O'Hara and opera star Nathan Gunn will perform selections from Show Boat; Carousel; Kiss Me, Kate; Very Warm for May; Love Life; One Touch of Venus; Street Scene; On the Town; Candide; and West Side Story with the New York Philharmonic, in Classic Broadway, conducted by Tony Award winner Ted Sperling, Monday, March 21, 2011, at 7:30 p.m. The pair will perform solos and duets from hit shows by American songwriters Jerome Kern, Kurt Weill, Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers, and Leonard Bernstein, whose music was matched with words by such celebrated lyricists as Oscar Hammerstein, Betty Comden and Adolph Green, and Stephen Sondheim. Seattle Shakespeare Company announced today its plans to produce The Threepenny Opera at the Intiman Theatre. The Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill musical satire about the dapper criminal, Mac the Knife, and the denizens of his seedy underworld will run February 16 through March 6, 2011 for 15 performances only.

Passage Theatre, Trenton's only professional theater company, will present its 10th Annual Solo Flights Festival with six events and two special readings from March 4 through 27. Performances will take place at the Mill Hill Playhouse, located at 205 E. Front Street at the corner of Montgomery Street, in the heart of Trenton's historic Mill Hill district.

Madison Opera continues its 50th anniversary season with the company premiere of Kurt Weill's The Threepenny Opera in The Playhouse at the Overture Center for the Arts. The Threepeny Opera will close on Feb. 13, 2011. The production is Madison Opera's second venture in the intimate Playhouse and features a stellar cast from across theater and opera.
